Varejao - what are we willing to give up?

According to Doogie the Cavs called us and we could be interested, which is logical.

Varejao is a great fit for our Wolves. He's one of the best defenders at his position. He has lots of playoff experience. He's producing out of his mind right now. He's a great passer that would fit very well in our offense.

Williams/Ridnour or Barea - I assume just about everyone would say yes

Williams/Pek - I assume just about everyone would say no

Pek/Ridnour - I think this is debatable given that Pek is likely to be paid more than Varejao next year.

However, I could see something like this:

Williams/Ridnour/Stiemsma/#1 (lottery protected)

Varejao/Casspi

Wouldn't want to move Pekker. Would love Varejao. Our bigs defense on the pick and roll is one of our biggest flaws right now in my opinion. So Varejao would really help there. I just think Pek when healthy is too important to our success when he is finishing at the rim. If he keeps up the performance from the Denver game then I will be happy. With healthy Pek playing like that, and Love getting his play back up to par we could be a dangerous team even without Ricky. With healthy Ricky? Other teams better pray. Now if it is Williams/Ridnour/Steimsma/Lotto protected pick then my answer would be yes.

Rubio/Barea
Lee/Shved (Roy) (Bud)
AK47/Howard (Bud)
Love/Cunningham
Varejao/Pek

If Pek isn't included, then where's the room for him to play?

Any deal not involving Pek, Love, Ricky, Shved or AK is fine by me.

This. Ideally, we keep Cunningham, too.

Would be pretty dope if we could get Varejao for Derrick Williams, Luke Ridnour and a first round pick.

I don't think that will get it done, though.

Rubio/Barea
Shved/Lee/Roy
AK47/Howard
Love/Cunningham
Pekovic/Varejao

That SF/PF/C rotation would possibly be the best in the entire league. Add in Rubio and Shved distributing = best wolves team ever.
Would love it, can't see it happening, though.

Love 36/Varejao 12
Pek 30/Varejao 18

Dante becomes the odd man out, which isn't ideal.

There is plenty of time for a 3 man rotation at the 4/5.

Legit question: Are we better with Pek or Varejao?

There's enough minutes for 4 guys. I love Dante.
Varejao, Love and Pekovic are all kinda injury prone. So there would probably be more than enough time on the court for Dante.

smart to call before Rubio comes back and we realize there's zero reason to mess with our frontcourt

AK 30 - Dante 18
Love 36 - Vjao 12
Pek 30 - Vjao - 18
Howard on the bench.

Dante has played better at SF, on offense, and defense;
http://www.82games.com/1213/12MIN10.HTM
16.6 per, opposing SF 10.3 Per

Rubio/Barea
Shved/Bud/Lee
AK47/Dante/Bud
Love/Varejao
Varejao/Pek

It would be a nice problem to have :)

I'd guess that most of those stats are when he and Williams share the floor, but Williams plays SF in those lineups, not Cunningham.

He would just get spot minutes at the 4, but would likely be the main backup at SF. Then Budinger and Shved take all the minutes at SG. Definitely gets a bit crowded when everyone is healthy, but in the case of the all the bigs, it wouldn't be a bad thing to limit their minutes to the low 30s at most (particularly Pek, Varejao, and AK47). Could always make another trade to consolidate a bit. As always, it obviously depends on the cost.

This. Being crowded shouldn't be something we should be worried about. We would be very deep. We would have the best frontcourt rotation in the league. Not to mention, getting Andy would be good insurance in case Pek gets overpaid by another team next year. Otherwise, if he doesn't, we would just continue to have the best frontcourt rotation in the league.

Obviously I would love Williams/Ridnour/1st for Varejao. But I wouldn't be opposed to a grand 3-team move to clear out Pek, Williams, Ridnour, Barea, Roy for Varejao and Calderon. We'd open up cap-space to pursue Iguodala.

Rubio/Shved/Vet.Min.
Iguodala/Shved/Lee
Kirilenko/Iguodala/Budinger
Love/Kirilenko/Cunningham
Varejao/Love/Stiemsma

It's a pipe dream but it sure would be fun to watch.

I'd be open to Iggy, but it would be tough to space the floor with Ricky, Iggy, and AK47 playing 1/2/3. Very little minutes for Budinger would mean, we really only have two floor spacers in the rotation. Our defense would beast people with that lineup though.

Even if the only way for Cleveland to do this is with Nik, I'd say yes.

Interesting. Mayo may be much more affordable and a better fit though.
