Ugh. This sucks.

I was wondering why he left the game because he wasn't involved in a collision or had a freak accident. It makes sense, although it's also a bit surprising that he had to leave to court without showing signs of pain.

I feel so sad for the guy... He just can't do what he loves doing.

Wasn't as high on him as others, but he played well for a 2nd round pick. Definitely a guy who would have to be a specialist at something like D to stick long term. Hurts to lose him as our depth is non-existent at SG which will mean more Ridnour at SG with Rubio back (sans a deal). Think we saw a bit of that last night.

I won't be surprised from correspondence today if Malcolm Lee is done for the year... and the #Twolves sign someone. Maybe Redd. Stay tuned.

Wow :o

Seems like it's time to get serious about pulling the trigger on a trade. Hobbling around with the Howard/Redd type signings isn't going to help the playoff hopes.

I agree with this. However, I'm beginning to lose hope about the playoffs anyway. KLove seems very human right now and Rubio is a long way from the player we got used to seeing last year.

Signing Redd would be a way of signaling defeat. A good trade would at least make it look like we're committed to trying to get in the playoffs.

Despite the fact he will never be Kobe Bryant, it's horrible. That means he will not play basketball anymore?

Yikes! And this guy hasn't had the chance to bank millions like Roy either...

Yep. This is just a terrible season when it comes to these guys and their health. Ravaged. I hope this isn't the end of his career, just a set back. If he knows how tentative his future is he can start preparing to live through means where he can still live well off his NBA money. If he can play 5 more years on low level contracts he can still be fine.

“@DarrenWolfson: Told Malcolm Lee doesn't have ACL damage, but he'll definitely be out "a while." Still seeing docs. My belief still: out for year. #twolves”

Ugh. This team needs a break.

A break from breaking knees.

More on #Twolves: my last Malcolm Lee tweet for a while: told from a team source that he is indeed out for the season.

Re: M. Lee -- knee injury. Didn't get into specifics. Was told no micro-fracture surgery... for now. RT @PHansenDUB @DarrenWolfson Out with?

And

Darren Wolfson ‏@DarrenWolfson

A move is coming to replace Howard. Lee still on roster with the 15 man limit. RT @tlschwerz @DarrenWolfson any move to replace him?

That'll be his second surgery in two years, right?

As bad as it sounds they probably better off waiving him.

Sucks.

Lee's contract is guaranteed through next year.

It's small, and it doesn't mean he couldn't be waived to gain a roster spot if necessary, but it makes sense that he's still on the roster.

Josh Howard's contract wouldn't have become guaranteed until the CBA mandated January 10th.

The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that guard Malcolm Lee will undergo two surgeries next week.

On Monday, Jan. 14, Lee will undergo a right knee cartilage repair. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Jonathan Glashow at Midtown Surgical Center in New York. On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Lee will undergo surgery on his right hip. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Lee is expected to miss the remainder of the 2012-13 NBA season.

Lee, 6-5, played in 19 games for the Wolves this season, averaging 4.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 18.1 minutes per game. The Wolves originally acquired Lee from the Chicago Bulls on June 23, 2011.

Too bad for Malcolm. I'm guessing his NBA career is probably over.
