MIN - IND (AK + Rid for Granger?)

Granger's about to come back, and I've heard whispers that IND is shopping him because they don't want him to interfere with Paul George. Granger gets paid $14 mil next year. He's never made that leap to superstar, but he's a darn good player that can score, shoot three's and defend a little. So here's my question -- does this make sense for either team?
MIN GETS: Granger + prospect
IND GETS: Kirilenko + Ridnour + Amundson
Love and Granger don't seem to like each other, but Love could use some of the stuff Granger provides. However, giving up mvp Kirilenko may sink this season. Next season is this an upgrade?
I've got no feel for this one at all. Are we giving up too much or should IND be putting in more value? Would it help or hurt us? Give me your thoughts of a swap of sub-superstars?

I would do this. I'm not sure if Indy would. Ridnour would definitely be an upgrade for them, but I think they like having George play SF now...they may be looking for a SG to bump Stephenson back to the bench.

Yes, it's too much. AK is playing like he was 4-5 years ago and does so much more than his stats show that unless that "prospect" is a star level player, I think we are on the losing end of that deal.

I would probably do this. I love AK47, but Granger is a couple years younger, and a much better shooter which we desperately need.

I'd do it, too. I'd rather it be Barea than Ridnour involved in the trade. But as much as I love AK and as much as he does for the team, Granger is an all star and can get the ball in the hoop. He's got a won't-backdown attitude, too. Something this team needs next to Pekovic.
You can easily build around a trio of Rubio, Granger and Pekovic.

Wait, when did we trade Kevin?

So would you say that's fair value? That's my big question.
I suppose if I was negotiating it, I'd offer Kirilenko + Roy. If it was close, I guess I'd see if they'd add anything to turn Roy into Ridnour + Amunsdon.
I'm a little worried if this adversely affects Shved too.

Is it a good idea to acquire a player that gets hurt outside the Timberwolves organization?
Anyways, I've always been a fan of Granger. We need a Granger to complete our team, or close to completing. AK's defense & BBIQ are highly respected and appreciated but we need a scorer.

Interesting idea, tho I'd rather do a trade involving 3 teams, where Indiana sends us Granger, we send them Pek, they send Hibbert in the 3rd team and get what they need in return from there. It would include us having to give some of our assets like Bud, Barea and Roy's expiring.
I just don't see us trading AK. He's our MVP by far, Adelman loves him, players respect him, Shved is surely happier with him around, he's among the best glue guys in the league.
I love Pek, but I'd rather imagine him traded than AK. We'd have Love moved to C which would hopefully bring us even more rebounding and tip-ins, we'd have AK's length in the interior defense on PF spot, and we'd have Granger as our 1st offensive option.

No on trading Pek, who else is a post player? Love really isnt as of right now.

Granger is another injury guy which I try to stay away from but we are pretty desperate for some reliable scoring... I might do this.

I've said numerous times I think it makes more sense and is more likely that we keep Pek over Love.

Well, you don't necessarily need a post player in today's NBA.

I'd do this deal.
AK is playing great this year, but you have to look at the future and being a real threat in this league and AK doesn't have that much left.
He'd be good for Indy, a team that is a threat to win the East.

Kirilenko is a machine. Granger misses too many games for my liking.

Go to Gasol thread and you'll find the answer.

Considering how much Love "likes" Granger, this is a bit idiotic.
I'd keep AK

From an Indiana fan ..

I'd say the Pacers would be looking for a younger guy on a cheap long term contract, preferably on a rookie deal.
In that sense, Derrick Williams probably fits the bill much better than AK.
Narf wrote:Would there be any interest in Mahinmi/Stevenson/Granger for Kirilenko/Ridnour/Steimsma/Amundson?
I think the Wolves pull the trigger on that one. We love those Euros after all.
Not really looking to trade Stephenson or Mahinmi. In fact, the whole rationale for trading Granger would be to save some money for Stephenson's new deal in 2014, same year as Paul George's extension. But that's another full season away, so it could be that we won't trade Granger until next year's deadline (I'd bet on next offseason though).
I'd easily trade Williams and Ridnour (and they'd get a $4.2 mil TPE), and hope the minutes worked themselves out. Yeah, Granger's deal is dangerous and he's coming back from sur gery, but this team needs talent.
