First of all, sorry if I'm missing the point of the topic, but I see a lot of people talking about Oladipo here regardless of the topic title and 1st post.
After watching this video, I can't help but notice he's not jumping when shooting 3s. Add the fact that he had 46.8% but on only 68 3pt attempts, which is a really small sample size and probably means he shot mostly when he was wide open, and you'll find me thinking he will probably not be a decent 3 point shooter.
I'd rather keep the #9 and go for McCollum or KCP if trying to get #3 or #4 means not trying to get McLemore, but Oladipo. I think we are forgetting how big of issue the spacing was to us this season, so I think we need the 3 point shooter much more than even a possibly elite defender, slasher and a dedicated worker.
A reminder:
Coming out of Arizona in 2011, Derrick Williams was being heralded as a deadly outside threat, even though his impressive 56.8 percent from long distance came on just 74 attempts. That was after taking just 16 attempts total (he hit four) his freshman season. In his first two seasons in the NBA, he's made 26.8 percent and 32.6 percent from 3-point range, respectively. An overall 30.1 percent isn't exactly making opposing defenses honor his shooting threat.
Oladipo shot 20.8 percent on 48 attempts two seasons ago, and his improvement happened on just 68 attempts this year. Do you trust the recency of his shooting? That's something GMs will have to ask themselves when he's available for selection in June.
I think Oladipo is a SG equivalent of Derrick Williams, by succeeding at driving because of the elite athleticism in college even tho all of his drives seem to be by going right by force, and I don't think it will translate really well in the NBA because Cs protecting the paint in the NBA can actually only be experienced in the NBA. He is a higher tier defender at his position than DWill is at his tho, but that's not enough for me.

Something to consider....its actually easier to get into the lane in the nba with hand check and defensive 3 second rules.

Would rather have McLemore by a considerable margin.

He's not Ray Allen, but he'd never claim to be either.

Spacing was an issue, but don't forget that we were without our two best shooters for a combined 123 of a possible 164 games

You have a point there, but I'm not sure that those overweight the fact that nba Cs protect the paint way better than college Cs.

Well, I'd rather have McLemore whose ceiling seems to be Ray Allen than Oladipo who's ceiling seems to be Tony Allen.

Yes, but can Love and Bud really give us a lift from .305 this season to at least ~.350 at 3pt%? .350 would get us to being the 22nd team in the league in 3pt%, and I don't think we're there with Oladipo.

Actually, Tony Allen is Oladipo's floor IMO

Well, I think you're underrating Tony Allen quite a bit. To be the best defender at your position doesn't require just being athletic and passionate about defense, but also a lot of experience and knowledge. Ricky is the perfect example. He has all the tools to be the best defender at PG spot and he would be if his pick n roll and help defense didn't suck, so he still has to learn a lot. If you think Oladipo is going to be even closely as good defensively as Tony Allen is from game 1, I think you are very wrong. He might never reach that level of defense.
At the offensive end, it's unpredictable, but I'm not sure he'll be much more than Tony Allen.

I think we need a sg who can shoot the nba 3 for sure, more than an elite defender. Even without love and ricky most of the year we manage the defense pretty well. The weak spot came from sg position mostly for play with 2 point guards(read ridnour). Even shved dont have the phisical tools to be one on one defender at nba at his first year. I think kcp has this tools and one starting year will be enough to adapt him. You need outside shooters when you have the 2 best offense rebounders in the game.
The money commited to pay the top 5 is more than 9 over the next 4 years without count the assets invested in case we trade up. I Should give a 9pick a chance and take those assets to fill other holes in the roster (Defensive big).
