Wow I can't believe Polars was actually runner up. The other potential names must have been terrible.

The 6 potential Names for the Wild were Freeze, Northern Lights, Voyageurs, Wild, Blue Ox, and White Bears.

"so Majka and his group arrived at six finalists "that had potential": Freeze, Northern Lights, Blue Ox, White Bears, Voyageurs and Wild.

The six names were pitched to the fans for feedback, and Majka admits, there wasn't a clear consensus.

"It was a bit of a 'pick em' situation as we got to the end," remembered Majka. "We liked the marketing potential of "Wild", so we went with it."

Who knows who comes up with potential names. I actually like Timberwolves, there a Minnesota animal and they're intimidating (Well, wolves actually aren't intimidating but when people think of animal Wolves they think of the kind of Wolves in fairy tales like 3 little pigs or little red riding hood)

What were the final group of potential names for the Wolves, though?

These were the final choices:
the Minnesota...

Timberwolves
Polars
Sturgeons
Bog Lemmings
Casanovas
Ratsnakes
Peanuts (after the comic strip by Minnesotan Charles Schultz)

The Bog Lemmings would have made it pretty easy on headline writers. That's just asking to be made fun of. Definitely the most unique franchise name I've heard, though.

"The Lemmings' scoring dove off a cliff in the 4th quarter."

"Minnesota off to boggish start in 2014-15 season, opening 2-26."

"There is rotten smell coming out of the Target Center offices today as rumblings suggest Minnesota star Shabazz Muhammad has asked to be traded."

I wouldn't say I like it better than the current secondary logo because that one is pretty neat. But, you're right, it's amazing and I'd love to see it being used.

I'm definitely behind the rebrand. I love the name and how Minnesotan it is, but timberwolves is just too long. Perhaps something shorter, and with another color scheme. Like the grey and black, with green accents or something. Even a new name would be appreciated, but I doubt Taylor will get behind anything like that. Especially since the Lynx and Wolves are two entities intertwined in their existence.

Instead of Minnesota they should go back to Minneapolis ____. Minneapolis is just a cool sounding name for a city.

The LA D-Bags.

Their logo would be an overly tanned 55 year-old guy with hair plugs driving a Porsche convertible with a bleach-blonde 22 year-old with his middle-finger extended.

I think it high time that Manute Bol is honored by having a franchise named after him.

I'm pretty sure the nba has these on lockdown due to the hardwood classics rule.

urinesane wrote:Keep the name and logo, go with the black jerseys (no sleeves) and change the lighting in Target Center for Wolves games to more of a Laker style, with the crowd being darker and the emphasis on the court.

Also, they should do free t-shirt nights where everyone gets a black shirt with yellow wolves eyes on the front.

They can call it a blackout and make the other team feel like they are in the woods (and are out numbered by angry wolves).

Other than that, no changes needed, besides winning more games.

Perhaps they could highlight the vertical on the step with eye looking shapes on the stair well as well as in between each seat. To give off a yellow glow, that way there's always a yellow eyes glare instead of just tshirts. That way even on days when shirts aren't being given out, there will still be that glow.

Another thing, why haven't the Wolves tried to acquire the Teen Wolf persona? I mean how great was that movie?
