Zack Lowe had some nice things to say about Tyus this week. He basically thinks Teague is better but that Jones is solid:

With the latest update to ESPN's RPM stats Tyus is now 7th among point guards with a 3.65 RPM (Teague is 27th with -0.06 RPM). Another interesting thing to note is Jones is 2nd among PGs in defense with a DRPM of 1.88 (Teague is the 64th rated PG with a -1.05 DRPM).

I've been saying for a while that Tyus Jones is one of those sneaky team-defense oriented monsters, even with his physical limitations; he had flashes at Duke as well. I love the way Tyus plays, he is just so intelligent on and off of the ball.

Of all the positive developments so far this season, I think the one I'm most excited about is Tyus' transformation into a top tier defender. I think most people would agree that when he was coming out of college, defense was the biggest concern with him. He's already got that side of the ball figured out at age 21, and I could see him becoming an extremely efficient offensive player as well. He's probably still got a ways to go before he hits his ceiling.

So how long until a team comes and offers him playing time or a contract we can't match?
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

We'll move Teague before we let go of Tyus.(At least I hope that's what we do)

Depends on how long we extend him for. This offseason is when our extension window first opens. He still has another year on his rookie deal though. If we don't extend him, he can be a restricted free agent in 2019.
At this point, I feel like most teams wouldn't offer him a major contract. Teams are always looking for the flashy new thing, and I don't think Tyus will ever be that. Like I think we could get him on a 4/36, for example. There would be one year of overlap with Teague's player option but that's it.

It seems like Tyus is one of the favorites in the locker room. Jimmy treats him (on social media) like he treats Taj, which to me says a lot.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Jamal is always talking to him on the bench, too. Everyone just seems to want him to do well, he's like a little brother type to some of these guys
I don't know if he would, but maybe he'd consider a hometown discount if other teams offered him a little bit more than we could

yep it's good to see a veteran like Butler publically give him his support. He has come a long way

Will be an interesting season next year. Think Tyus might push Teague out by then.

Re: ** The Official Tyus Jones Thread **
Is Tyus Jones the Best Pro From Duke’s 2015 Title Team?
Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow went higher in the draft, but the Wolves point guard has carved out his niche in the NBA this season.
But the simplest explanation for the Timberwolves’ success with Jones on the floor can be seen with your eyes: The offense simply runs more smoothly when he’s distributing. In the seven games Jones started for Teague this winter, he averaged nearly as many passes and took four fewer shots per contest. Jones doesn’t have the ball in his hands for long (nearly a full second shorter than Teague averages per touch), which instead places it in the caring hands of All-NBA talents like Butler and Towns. It’s part of why Minnesota is 8.5 points better per 100 possessions when he’s on the floor than when he’s off.

From what I have seen he is not ready yet to get minutes in playoffs.
