Flip Saunders passes away (pg 5)

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves president and coach Flip Saunders says he is being treated for cancer.

Saunders announced on Tuesday that he has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments for Hodgkin's lymphoma. He says his doctors are calling it "very treatable and curable."

Saunders plans to remain as the Timberwolves head coach and top executive while being treated. He says he is determined to beat the disease, which is a cancer of the immune system.

The 60-year-old Saunders returned to the Timberwolves as team president in 2013. Last year, he replaced the retired Rick Adelman on the Wolves bench and the team finished 16-66.

Saunders says he is taking the process "day by day" and doesn't envision an interruption in his duties with the team.

Yea just saw this too. It's really unfortunate but it sounds very treatable. Hopefully things go well. I wonder if that lump we have seen has anything to do with this.

Sad news, thankfully he says its very treatable and curable, but prayers go out to him and his family. Shows how committed he is to the team that he would continue with all his jobs. Really wish he would sign a coach for his own sake.

Flip is in my prayers as is his family. Hopefully this will be what he said it was, easy to treat and cure.
