Hey Minnesota fans, Raptors fan here. I am a big fan of towns- I have taken him 1st overall in consecutive rookie fantasy drafts. I did not get to catch any of his summer league games, but I did catch some highlights. What do you guys see him averaging? I think that Garnett will do wonders for him as the season progresses.

I'll give him an Al Horford rookie statline of 10 pts, 10 rebs, but with 2.5 ast and 1.5 blks

12 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 1.5 blocks, ~54 ts% in around 30 mpg

I don't think he will play 30mpg but ~25 (foul trouble + 19y old body), so my stats are
11p, 8r, 2a, 1.5blk

I say 9pts, 7rebs, 2.5asst and 1.5 blocks and finishes third in ROY voting.

Well he's still young and has some maturing to do in his game.

With KG as his mentor every day of the season, i'd expect low stats, but great defensive impact. Will also showcase his leadership alongside Rubio by constantly talking on D, calling screens, setting screens, making the extra pass, etc. His impact won't be shown by his stats, which will have outsiders looking at Towns as a disappointment in his first year, but real hoop heads and people who watch his game will see his impact. Sort of like how Rubio impacted the game

Yeah, pretty much my thoughts. Stats is the last thing I would worry about. Last year our bigs were non existing in defense, so defensive presence is something I will expect from KAT from the day one. Being physical impersonation of KG on the court, create chemistry with Rubio, learn nuances, take care about body during long season.
I only wish we had Thibodo as our head coach. Really want to see how he would get the best from our young guys in defense.

No you don't. I don't think Flip/Mitchell is the answer, but messing with Thibs, you'll have Rubio, Wiggins, Lavine, Towns all ran down & injury prone by their mid 20's.

If you've watched Towns long enough you'll know he's not about the stats, more about the little things. He makes the right plays and he's more than a willing passer, even a great passer. He's a different player than KG, although he will talk on the court, motivate his team, etc.. he will not go to the KG levels of motivation. Also, he's almost already a better deep post offensive player than KG, which means he'll be better at drawing double-teams. He's more like Marc Gasol but with better passing, running, & athleticism. Mark Gasol is just much stronger, is better defensively, and has so much more experience, but I can see Towns growing into a Marc Gasol type with expanded range. He has the IQ, just needs the strength, and most of all, the experience and playing time.

He'll have issues with foul trouble this season but help adapt little by little. I can see him getting like 12ppg, 8.5r, 3a, 1.4blk, 1s.

I want to make sure he exceeds my expectations ...i do have a concern about foul trouble and him being on the floor though. Hopefully he's gained some strength over the summer.

No you don't. I don't think Flip/Mitchell is the answer, but messing with Thibs, you'll have Rubio, Wiggins, Lavine, Towns all ran down & injury prone by their mid 20's.

Because Flip didn't run Wiggins into the ground last year...

Didn't have much choice when you only have 8-9 players available to play. Wigs will get a more manageable 36 a game and towns will have 26-28, same as garnetts rookie year and A.D. I predict 9-10pts. 6.5- 7 rbs 1.5 steels, 1.5 blocks.

manageable 36? That's like tops in the league you know that right? Also forgot to mention Flip running Rubio into the ground in a lost season after coming back from injury
