This team it's been so entertaining to watch. I love Ricky, Towns and the ocasional throw down from wiggs. BTW the Dunn craziness on defense it's also very fun to watch. Such a shame we are missing the PO douh.

Where'd the trade Ricky people go?

Image

Ricky is hitting his prime years (like I said) just as KAT and Wiggins are starting to hit their strides as young stars.

The future is bright, you just need to be patient for one more offseason. Next year is the leap forward.

P.S. I'm still alive b*tches! I've just been too busy with work to hang out here.

P.P.S
Remember when people thought this year would be coached by Mitchell?

Spoiler:
That was a weird post to make a return with...you have to admit though, those were some pretty good random gifs.

Ricky is officially shooting 41% FG this season. I think he can be a 43-46% shooter next year. His confidence in his shot really makes him look different.

Pretty big step up in % considering how poorly he shot at the beginning of the year.

Rubio's transformation into average scorer is one of my main biggest hopes for the next year. It makes easier to build reliable offense when Rubio is aggressively looking for his shots.

Confidence is one thing many people leave out when judging players. Mental blocks can happen in all sports. I remember a Cubs second baseman many years ago who had problems throwing to first base after a few throwing errors early in the season.
But with Rubio's situation I always thought he could be a decent shooter last year as his shot looked improved. And he did shoot over 40% the second half of last season.
But this season he's not only shooting better from the field, he's shooting a great ft pct. At some time there is probably a tipping point where a player goes from lacking confidence to realizing they can do something successfully. Maybe Rubio has finally reached that tipping point.

Does anyone see him having a 50-40-90 season at one point?

When I first read this, I thought, "let's not get ahead of ourselves". Then I looked at his stats post all-star break. 46/40/90

Not to pop anyone's fun balloons, but even SuperCoolBeas managed to put together a hot shooting streak here for a while that prompted many to say he finally was turning the corner...

I think the thing was Beas was always his mentality and IQ. He was always a pretty good scorer in this league, but he just had a very relaxed/nonchalant attitude that translated into a lot of boneheaded plays on the court.

Rubio is a gamer that was held back by his one limitation which is scoring. I think the fact he's shooting careers highs across the board, even if by NBA standards 41% FG and 31% 3 are not good, it shows a step in the right direction from his 37-38% FG seasons.

It would be one thing if Rubio was still shooting the flat, hard jump shots he had when came into the league. He has been working very hard on his shot, and it appears to be paying off. His jump shot definitely looks improved.
Kidd's shot was worse looking than Rubio's when he, Kidd, came into the league. He worked very hard on his shot as well to the point where he was a decent three ball shooter. He still shot under 40% in eleven of his nineteen seasons. But he did improve.

How ironic would it be if that were to happen.

Yes, his mid range shots are looking good. Especially from top of key. But I really like how he finds opportunity to attack the rim. These layups are often easy buckets, because offense tries to cover KAT, Wiggins and others first.

Loving Ricky right now, hopefully he keeps this up even when Zach returns.

I would say to those who think Rubio gets a lot or most of his assists simply by throwing the ball to Towns or Wiggins to actually watch some of his games. Sure, a number are tossing the ball to the Wolves big scorers.
But Rubio sets up many of those situations and he still has to deliver the ball even on the "easy" assists. But a number of his excellent passes aren't converted by the shooter. Watching a recent game where Towns had close to forty pts. only about five of Rubio's assists were from Towns's shots from outside. Rubio had a number of missed assists on excellent passes to receivers in the lane or close to the basket who either missed the shot or were fouled while shooting. Nobody gets credit for assists on missed shots converted into made fts.
But even so Rubio still has to find the open man, and he's not only looking for Towns or Wiggins.
Many of Stockton's assists were "just throwing" the ball to Malone.
But Rubio's total game of setting up the offense, finding the open man, and getting him the ball in shooting position in what is so impressive.

This is obvious when you watch the games. Thank you for breaking down the numbers though. Nice when the numbers back up what you think.

I can't believe that Rubio is 10th in FT% (88.7%) and 5th among point guards (ESPN list, players with more than 125 free throws). That's absolutely elite level and it is even better considering he is going to the free throw line much more lately.
