Spoiler:
On Butler:

- The truth is that Jimmy Butler changes totally the reality of our team, he’s a star that takes the team 2 or 3 levels up. We had youngsters that have a name, but they’re still young. But with Jimmy, we need to make the playoffs immediately.

On the rumours about his availability during the draft:

-I don’ like the rumours. One feels very awkward with this kind of rumours, but from my experience you don’t have to listen to rumours, and until something happens, you don’t have to keep track of the rumours.
I would like for the club to respect me a bit more but this is a business. They have to do what’s best for the club without thinking about the player. You don’t have to like it, but you have to accept it. I think about improving, on being well physically or mentally, on Minnesota or on another team.

On the rumours about going to the Knicks….

-It’s the truth that the rumours intensified a lot, specially at the deadline. By what I’ve heard, it was very close. It’s the truth that I was being rumoured to a lot of teams, so I looked at them and see what they’ve got, but at the end, nothing happened.

On Thibodeau after the deadline…

He didn’t say anything to me. It was all professional. They have to do what’s best for the team, even if it can affect the feelings of a player. We have to get over it. That’s how it works in this world.

On the character of Thibs….

He’s not that serious. He’s got jokes. He’s a hard-worker. He gets basketball and works a lot at it. As a person, he’s reserved,

On who is Thibs most hard on…

Towns, without a doubt. He’s the star and the youngster, so he pushes him because he’s a player that can give this franchise a lot and nobody knows where the limit is.

About the difference between his 1st half of the season and his 2nd…

I had the elbow injury and the ghost of the injuries came back again. After that, I worked very hard to be more constant, being mentally better and going through a huge personal situation, at the end you come back stronger and I felt very comfortable with a lot of confidence.

Was it the best Rubio?

Yes, without a doubt. The level of confidence was huge and I felt like I was the player that I wanted to be.

On the ISO turns that Towns, Wiggins and Lavine took ….

Well, when you are young you don’t understand that you have to sacrifice for the team. That comes with experience.
The first thing you want to do when you get in the league, to get recognised is to get your numbers. That’s why it’s hard when you are a young team. You have to understand that winning buils more respect than good numbers. We had three magnific offensive talents, but it was very difficult to control that.

About Jimmy Butler arrival….

We will adapt. I’m really eager to start. He’s a player that I like a lot, he does a lot of things well, he’s a high skilled player and a winner. You know, a player that you can count on at the end of games and he understands basketball. I would love to play with him to see how we can share the ball and everything. Sharing the ball and leadership.

Can we see an improved Rubio?

Yes. I think I have another gear. I’m working to have that confidence, to be constant.
What I’m always accused of is of not being a great shooter, but I have the confidence that I will get there. Working hard and with a lot of desire.

Idols?

Nash or Johnson.

Harder player to defend?

Rose before the injury and Chris Paul.

Player that you love to assist?

That’s easy. Towns.

With which player would you like to play?

Lebron.

Your best historic lineup?

Nash-Magic-Jordan-KG and Pau.

What are your objectives?

Making the playoffs and winning a ring.

About KG….

Very hard worker, people were afraid of him, but he helped me a lot.

Murderous? You have 2 guys in the back court that are not good shooters. Where are they getting points?

Have Rubio lead teams been low scorers historically?

Replace Exum with Joe Ingles or Rodney Hood. They were the starting SG's

Those guards are terrific in transition. Both get into the lane at will. Both can dump the ball off to either big for easy baskets. Rubio creates an open look for someone on every possession. That's also an outrageous defensive lineup. Where is the other team getting points?

I'm really sad as well.

That's gonna turn into mad if we end up with Jeff Teague...

These guys make millions to play a game, don't feel too bad. Thanks to Reddit/internet pie, we will have no problem watching Rubio any less. He will come back to MN and tear us up I'm sure.

Sad to see him on another team, but Snider is a good coach and I think it'll be a good situation for him.

Some of this is good for Rubio. He gets to play for a better team than he has before. The Jazz are in a similar spot to us and could become a perennial playoff team for years if Hayward comes back. I think Rubio fits in well here and he may be able to get the sprk of joy back he played with in his early days. We might see Rubio highlights again.

On the other hand, Hayward will probably leave and Utah will be a mess.

Thank you so much for everything you've done for us, Ricky. For all the excitement, hustle, energy, defense, assists, some unexpected scoring outbursts, that three point shot (after being 0 for 10 or something like that before the shot) to tie the game against the Clippers where Love hit the game winner seconds later, the sense of hope during your rookie season, the "change your face" comment and many many more things that I can't think of right now.

Muchas gracias, Ricky.

Timberwolves are one of the most idiotic sports teams ever.

Whenever you think they might reach a turning point they do something very stupid.

Go watch us sign an older and worse PG for double the salary.

I'd take a guess and say it's cause of the guy on the left in your avatar picture.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
