Most improved Wolves player in 2017-2018

Post#1 » by minimus » Thu Jun 1, 2017 4:43 am

Hi all, I think Dieng will improve a lot: better chemistry with KAT, LaVine and Rubio. More corner 3s. More involved in handoffs with LaVine on perimeter, more screens and improved weakside help, rotations, charges etc. I hope he will be integral part of frontcourt, i.e. what Rubio does for this team from PG position, Dieng can provide as bigman.

I assume LaVine and Bjelica will spend some time to get in shape. Dunn and Jones will spend some time in G-League. KAT and Wiggins can improve a lot in defense but I think it may happen towards the end of next season.

To be completely honest, I think it will be Towns. Probably not statistically, but in his overall impact on both sides of the court in a game.

Going with Dunn.

I think Dieng is kinda capped due to his age. He's one of the oldest players on the roster that gets meaningful minutes.

Dunns defense was damn good for an NBA player and not just for a rookie. Offensively, the improvement will come. The game will slow down and he will have a better idea of where he is on this team. I think he tried to do too much thinking he had to be a star in order to supplant rubio, but he had a tough time adjusting to the athleticism and size of the players in the NBA.

Yes, it is not about stats or records, we have seen plenty of them last season. It is about player impact on both sides of the court in a game.

Yea, he had a big adjustment to the role on offense that he played at providence. At times it looked like he would try to force things that the defense wasn't giving him other times he was just indecisive on what he wanted to do. If he improves offensively he will be be such a good both sides of the ball player.

Yeah. I had strong feeling that Dunn was trying to fit within asked role: defend, shot open shots, facilitate. Creating offense for himself or others was not his primary task. I dont recall him blocked too much or missing many shots at rim. He just did not try to score at rim much.

I think it's Towns, just by jumping from the disappointing to above average defensive impact. Think a lot of players could improve, but Towns becoming that defensive anchor we all know he can become has to be the biggest game changer for us.

In order of likelihood.

1. Dunn because he has the lowest starting point of everyone. Pretty poor season but with his drive, I could see a big tun around in year 2.

2. Bjelica, he really came on late last season and if he can maintain that it will be a big improvement for him as an NBA player.

3. Shabazz if he is still on the team, all in all I think he had a poor season, had a stretch where he was really good but also some where he was the worst he has been in the NBA. If he put together a whole season where he had a reliable three and could score off the bench, it would be a big stride.

1)I hope Dunn can be in Smart/Bradley role. Good defense he got it and corner 3-s.
all depends how he'll spend his summer.

2) hope that Towns more likely or Wigg improve mentality and defense, it'll be a key for a good season

I really hope is Wiggins, 3 years of almost no impovements at all in his game, i hope is him but...

Yeah, i think is going to be Towns. Or Rubio if he stays.

Wiggins pretty clearly improved his shot last year. He didn't necessarily incorporate it a way that improved his overall game, but he has improved aspects.

If Rubio just plays the way he did the last two months of the year, it would have to be him. Of course, since he seems far from guaranteed to be on the roster going into next season, the fruits of his improvement may be on display elsewhere.

As someone stated, Dunn only has one way to go and that's up. Based on that fact alone, he seems like the player to make the most noticeable improvement. And since Lavine will be out and/or limited for a good chunk of the year, I'd expect Dunn to have more opportunity to play.

Yep, it will be Rubio on another team (probably an all star) because Timberwolves.

I'll vote Dunn mainly because he has the biggest gap between his actual play and what he could be. I am somewhat optimistic the 2017-18 version of Dunn will be a lot closer to expectations than what we saw last season.

Did you guys know if you play 2K17 and fast forward to the next season, Dunn is the lowest rated player on the roster at 70? Tyus Jones has a higher rating than him.

Not saying NBA2K stats are accurate, but damn..lower than Cole Aldrich even.

Dude has a lot to prove. I wasn't a fan of his game AT ALL this year. Worse handles than I thought, down right embarrassing finishing ability, jumper so ugly it would make a blind man cry & he had the occasional flashy pass, but he is no point guard.

I was however, impressed like hell by his defense & toughness. I really think he's going to be a 2 guard going forward, his floor is a defensive specialist, maybe his ceiling can be a 3&D guy, but he just has so many unchecked boxes from what you expect from your starting PG.

I'll pick him for the same reasons you guys mentioned above

I don't think guys like Wiggins, Rubio, or Kat will get the credit for improvement unless the team is winning.

If Dunn is our most improved player then we are in deep trouble.

I hope Wiggo but I believe Dunn

A lot of this depends on how Lavine comes back and what role he gets. Rubio could very easily be the most improved based on what he started to show at the end of the year, however, Lavine and Wiggins may take the ball out of his hands more often again.
It also could be Dunn or Tyus, but they'll be competing with each other for back up minutes as well as Wiggins/Lavine for SG minutes.
It could be Lavine, but he's coming off an injury and his role is in question. Could he be put into an OKC James Harden role? Would that marginalize his talent? Do Rubio and Wiggins take the ball out of his hands too much?
It also could be Wiggins, but he showed SG is a better fit for him. With Lavine being back how much will he be at SF? Will that screw him over a bit? Also with Lavine being back will he lose shots/have the ball taken out of his hands more?
It could be KAT and his solely relies on his defense, and I see Thibs hopefully being able to do wonders with him and Dieng.

With all the variables, and the possible impacts of new players considered, I'd go with KAT.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

whaaaaaat? lol. you sure you watched the games? He shot 50% at the rim, aka very bad and he had a quarter of his offense at the rim. He didn't have many shots due to limited PT, but when he tried he missed routinely.
