Common sense. What a breath of fresh air!

only way to beat GS is switch everything on defense, dominate the boards and hope for the best. Oh and you need a superb offense, but let's make the playoffs first.

Is there anyway to know how x player does against a certain team without actually counting each stat for each game?

Im curious to see if there is a type of player that gives GSW trouble.

Yeah, we should probably focus on getting to the playoffs first

I think we'd have a better chance than Cleveland with LeBron TBH. A Towns/James front court would be a menace to GS.

We'd need to add a Kawhi level player to have a chance. I just don't see how that happens outside of draft and develop.

Get lucky and sign KAT to an unders contract. That curry contract made this team. Had he not had his injuries and taken a lower contract I don't think they could have out this team out there.
So in short you need to catch a break to be able to compete with them.

Well that's not going to happen, and I don't think it's needed. Curry's contract isn't why they are a championship team, at least not by itself.

Have an mvp signed to a non max deal is a massive massive steal.

They also had Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on cheap deals. So it's combination of things, good drafting and the guys developing late enough in their careers where GS could get them on cheaper deals. And while the cheaper deals allowed them to sign Durant, they were already a 70 win team. I'm not sure the cap space was even needed.

If you want totals, just go to the splits page for the player you want to see. At the bottom, totals are split by team. You can do career or season by season.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rubiori01/splits/

Alternatively, you can use bkref's play index tool.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pgl_finder.cgi

You can't pick a player by name, but it should be pretty easy to narrow it down to one person using a combination of age, position, and team. Then, just pick GSW as the opponent and you'll have their game log against just that team. I did Ricky last year as an example:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=game&year_min=2017&year_max=2017&is_playoffs=N&age_min=26&age_max=26&team_id=MIN&opp_id=GSW&pos_is_g=Y&order_by=pts

Trade 1-
Towns to Spurs for Kawhi
Pops starts over with his new Duncan and cap space. Thibs gets his Defensive Stud with a ring and playoff experience to lead Wolves against GSW.

Trade 2-
To Bucks: LaVine + Dunn + JJ + #24
Bucks stack their backcourt around Giannis.

To Pelicans: Wiggins + Aldrich + #30
Davis gets his Robin -- a scorer who doesn't also occupy the paint.

To Jazz: #7 + Asik + Tele + Vaughn
Jazz get a great pick and $ savings for Favors.

To Wolves: Cousins + Favors + Middleton + Burks

C: Cousins | Dieng | Favors
F: Favors | Dieng | Bjelica
F: Kawhi | Middleton | Vet 3D
G: Middleton | Burks
G: Rubio | Jones

Does that team take down GSW next season?

I think we need an intervention.

Dude this whole thread is a exercise in make believe. If you take any of these posts seriously (outside of the ones that admit the truth of being 4-5 years away from matching up with Warriors and that sniffing the playoffs is priority) you are the one that needs a intervention.

I think we have a lot of pieces, but believe we are missing one integral hard to find piece- We need a point forward. We need a Pippen or a Draymond. I believe still that the Zach LaVine, Point Guard, experiment wasn't entirely wrong. He was too young and isn't a natural distributor, but I think he has the physical tools to stay in front of small guards. The defense will, I believe, come with age and experience. It's not easy having a new coach every year. Our best lineup would be, IMO, LaVine and Wiggins as two huge, athletic guards that can pour it on with Towns and Dieng on the front line, but there needs to be a high end jack of all trades type to make it work.

IMO the best non-Lebron or Giannis addition in this league would be Draymond Green for this team. Since that's wildly unlikely and probably not doable with a cap and people getting raises, I think you then default to taking a flawed guy like Tyreke Evans or Livingston and hoping they can help keep the ball moving.

One thing I want to be careful of is to not try to copy one team. We need to fit what this roster does best, not try to conform to what some might say winning basketball looks like. Don't try to match the Warriors, try to gain an advantage on the Warriors.

Why? Because there are may different ways to play winning basketball.
-The Spurs use high level ball movement.
-The Warriors and Rockets use the 3-ball.
-The Grizzlies and Jazz use defense, rebounding and toughness.

All different ways to play winning basketball. They aren't successful solely because of that style of play, but because that style of play matches up with the personnel on the roster. So what's our style of play? What's our thing that we use to gain an advantage? Personally, I believe it's youth and athleticism. The team is led by young, freaky athletes, so lets add more of the same types of pieces around them.

In the draft, the first person that stands out there is Dennis Smith Jr. If slotting him at PF, Jonathan Isaac fits this narrative too. Who else? What about free agents? Trade targets?

Not trying to diminish the work the Warriors' front office has done, which is fantastic, but they also got lucky that the salary cap was raised exactly the same year Durant became a free agent. It obviously effected all the teams so they didn't have a particular advantage over any other team but without that spike I'm pretty sure Durant wouldn't have been signed.

This is an excellent point. While it might be really difficult to gain any advantage over the current Warriors team, it's always smart to act rather than react. So try to find your identity as a team and try to maximize whatever you can bring to the table.
