Official Deonte Burton watch

Post#1 » by MN Tinderwolf » Sat Jun 24, 2017 8:06 pm

yesterday they signed undrafted Deonte Burton to their summer league team. experts say he has a clear path to an nba roster. This expert says he's a poor man's Draymond. Decide for yourself:

This team needs some muscle. Hope he works out.

At the very least he'll be a fun Summer League player. Seems like a good bet for an undrafted player. Unique, so might work out.

just watch Deonte Burton is going to emerge into the roster and it only be one or two weeks before he's a bona fide starter kicking some serious George Clooney ass.

Rookie of the year.

If he can get his head straight up the sky will be the limit for him. I feel like Thibs is an ideal coach for hin

It's a coup if he turns out anything like pj Tucker.

They are eerily similar in size and game. Hopefully it doesn't take him 5 years to figure out his game for the NBA.

Seems like a perfect fit for the two-way contracts. He'd probably have no issue spending parts of the season in Des Moines.

You have to wonder where he'd have been drafted if he was 2 inches taller.

If he doesn't make it in the NBA, I guarantee some NFL teams will look at him.

He's much like Bazz from those videos in that he's always looking to finish with his left hand. I don't know that I saw him finish with his right the entire highlight video.

Regardless it's clear he has some instincts on defense and is a willing passer. His 3 point shot takes some time to get off but he shoots at an ok clip. Could definitely see him earning a roster spot and some minutes. Probably never going to play the 5 here as long as we have KAT and if Patton works out but he can be a bulldog 4 who can switch anything.

I hope he pans out. Reminds of Royce White without the anxiety problems. Regardless, it will be super fun to watch Patton and Burton play together during summer league. Such a unique pairing.

Dr J impersonation at 2:25.

Magic Johnson at 3:20.

we would be a supreme fastbreak team AND defensive team with him at the 4. His defense is similar to draymond. He's 23, bulked up and ready. by summer league's ending you'll be on board.

Rubio
Wig
Butler
Burton
Towns

what's the knock on this guy again? attitude?

Attitude and questions that a 6'5" guy can succeed playing the 4/5 in the NBA

not even trying to hype this guy's offense up either. if all he does is 3's/attacks close outs while playing shutdown defense, rebounding and outrunning suckers on fastbreaks then he's our long term answer at the 4 spot.

How was he not a lottery pick?!?

You can't be hyping him up to this degree AFTER we got him, it looks kind of ridiculous.

I think in this era, a 5'2" player can be a power forward in the nba. very few players post up any more. if he had to guard Webber, Wallace, Duncan, Dirk, Gasol, KG, Kemp, Baker like back in the day he'd be toast.

I'd hide 'em against the Pelicans. other than that I think he'll be fine.

His arms are really long with broad shoulders, thick chest. Must have close to a 7'0" wingspan. At 6'5" and with his strength and mobility he has a chance.

Wingspan is 6'11.5"

For a guy who's under 6'4" barefoot, that's impressive!

He was weighed at 266 lbs at Portsmouth. Think that's an issue?
