The ceiling is much higher than it would have been with Lavine. If he comes even close to what Butler is ot would have been awesome. Hes a nice young player but Butler is an absolute stud and we got him for a young scorer with holes in his game coming off surgery while having to decide on him long term very soon and a rookie og who struggled mightily last year. Im good with Jimmy Buckets and whst he brings.

I agree, that's why I said Butler was a difference maker
But its still not enough

West is really tough
Just don't see them winning a playoff series in next 3-4 years, given what is left in FA
Hope I'm wrong

I think if you have an MVP caliber player, you have a chance to win a playoff series, and KAT could be an MVP caliber player within 3-4 years.
We very well could a first round exit next year, but I think saying we are for the next 3-4 years is pretty pessimistic. There's a lot that can happen over that time frame.

It's more of a reflection of how tough the West is than the Wolves roster

I mean the Clippers had arguably two top 10 players for quite a few years and they lost in the 1st round 3 of last 6 years
and yes they've had some bad luck health-wise, but it is what it is
A lot of things need to go right just to win a series

(which will still be nice)

We're winning the first round at least. Maybe more.

Dieng's extension instead of his cap hold would be one

Only real good shooter left is Korver. Old as the hills, but nails the three.

Might be as simple as the Aldrich contract

We can still get Ibaka. Not like he's at their level, but just saying.

Ibaka is trending way down. Not half the player he was just a couple years ago.

How many wins are you predicting next year?

If they don't do anything else but fill out the bench, 50+.

I try to be realistic

Fringe playoff team right now, just don't have enough talent to win a playoff series (not just next year)
West is really tough

And this is the last offseason to meaningfully upgrade talent

You are mistaken. We do have enough talent and now we have leadership also in Butler.

The only teams I see as significantly better are the Warriors, Rockets and Spurs assuming Hayward goes East.

I would say
GSW
HOU
OKC
SA
Por- Nurkic all year
Den- with Millsap, probably another FA

are clearly better than Wolves

Wolves will be in a dogfight with Dallas, Mem, LAC, Utah without Hayward, Pelicans for last two spots next year

We will totally disagree on this. Mn better than OKC Portland and Denver easy.

depends if the lights go on defensively for Kat and Wiggins( Plus wiggins needs to show improvement in rebounding and playmaking )but if they do watch out!

Really bummed about Millsap thought he would add valuable experience and defense down low which the wolves need.

Four teams had more than 51 last year....the celtics, warriors, spurs and rockets.

That's why I didn't say 52.

How good this team is will largely depend on what kind of leap KAT and Wiggins take in their development. Both have very high ceilings and will be able to devote more energy towards defense. Butler alone makes us a playoff team.

LOL, you should be okay without overpaying Sap.

Trade Aldrich for Robin Lopez then fill out bench.

If you need one piece do it before all-star break.

Butler, Rondo and Wade couldn't reach PO in East. It's more difficult in the Wild West.

Rondo and Wade? This isn't 2010.

Teague isn't the Atlanta Teague version too. Wiggins and Towns aren't developed and Towns-Dieng is a pain on defense.

Meh.... it might be for the best. As it is I'm not even sure we'll have enough balls to go around, with 4 guys on the team who scored 15+ last year.

With the way our team is built, we just need someone to rebound, defend, and knock down the occasional outside shot. I know Ibaka is a shadow of his former self, but he can do those things to an extent. I propose we offer him 2/30 and see if he blinks.

Or, hell, just keep Gorgui. He's decent - more than decent - and he keeps improving. Will he turn into a reliable 3-pt shooter? With this team, we'll certainly have a chance to find out. A LITTLE continuity to this year from last would be good.

Yup i'm not ready to say adding George to Westbrook and that average roster is better than adding Butler and Teague to Wiggins and Towns

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
