2017 Minnesota Lynx

Post#1 » by Calinks » Sat Aug 12, 2017 5:29 am

Thought there was a thread already and I posted in it but surprisingly there doesn't seem to be one. Lynx have def been in the back of my mind this summer with all the wolves talk. With that said, I actually went to a game tonight as I haven't seen hardly any Lynx this season.

Wanted to go to the Sparks revenge game. Unfortunately we lost. Two cool things happened though I had no idea about.

They debuted the new logo which is very related to the wolves logo

They also gave out free glasses with the new logo on them.

I like it. Now if only they could get the huge Mayo Clinic header off the jerseys and make it much smaller.

yeah, the mayo clinic logo is way too big... i gather they needed more dollars from the deal, so hench the bigger logo. The WNBA is similar to the premier league where the team name is secondary to the sponsor. kinda sucks.

The Lynx has been great, i watched 5/6 games of them this season on NBA TV and they are by far the best team in the league...

I even saw some broadcasters saying that they can't see anyone beating this Lynx team in a 5 games series.

Whalen is out at least until the playoffs. However, age is taking a toll on her game. She is no longer the force she used to be.

Game 5 of the Finals is Wednesday night at the Barn!

Get warmed up for the Wolves second preseason game (Thursday, 1 am) by watching Game 5 (Wednesday, 7 pm)

The way this weekend was going, I expected the Lynx to lose. Not to mention I'm not sure they are the better team.
But they made it to game 5 and they are back home.

This might be the last chance for this group. This team is old. Hope they can pull it out.

Sparks are hard as nails and our age has been showing since last year. I am happy they got game 5 but man, could be another brutal home loss. Hope the team can retool somehow and not just go under when its rebuild time

Having 23 on the roster should help that

Fowles might be over 30 but she was just the leagues MVP. I think she will be OK also. Montgomery is a fine backup to Whalen right now. We have created a culture here and I don't think retooling will be all that hard. Brunson and Augustus came up huge in game 4 after being MIA in game three.

I don't expect the Lynx to fall off the map, they could still be contenders for a year or two, although maybe not the favorite/co-favorite they have been for years.

Exactly. Good team for many times to come, but maybe just one two years max being a favorite.

It's worth noting that in the regular season, the Lynx were 20-2 with Lindsay in the lineup and 7-5 without her. Now there were other players hurt during the season too, but none for as many games as Lindsay was out.

Lynx with a big run. They are trying to take the Sparks heart out of the game but I don't think that's possible. Sparks are the most mentally tough WNBA team I have seen in years. I hope we can keep this up but I am nervous.
