Miami got beat by 38 by the Bucks.
Thunder got BLOWN out by the Hawks 142-126
We got blown out the hardest, but teams got blown out pretty hard tonight.
Yea I saw that. Really weird night, teams getting bodied.
I was just listening to NBA radio. Host was laying into the Wolves players hard. But he also mentioned that the average margin of win/loss of all games was 28 pts Tuesday, the most on any day ever. So he says, "so there is that", but he also says the worst of the games was the Timberwolves.
He called the Wolves play disheartening for Wolves fans. He also spoke about how the Wolves players let Saric (and RoCo) down. Covington didn't play, but Saric did and they were returning for the first time to the team that coldly sent them packing in the trade. Saric had left europe early for Philly and they tossed him for a butler. He spoke about how bad that was that they couldn't get up to support their new teammates in this moment. He projected what he figured RoCo hoped they would have done to prove that they are both fine on their new team. Then not only for that reason but of course because of Butler. Then also because of the Embiid /Towns past he couldn't believe Towns' play tonight. -42 from Towns in this moment and the radio host could'nt let it go. He also couldn't let Wiggins play go. He talked at length about how Wiggins should have begged Ryan to allow him to shut down J.B. tonight. How Wiggins' floating around the court doesn't fly when you are paid at the top level. That his attitude doesn't fly as a top two paid player of this team. This guy was livid describing the shortcomings of Towns and Wiggins in this game. I felt I was listening to a long time Wolves fan at times, and at other times I could tell he was just a sports radio host that didn't follow the Timberwolves closely. He did however see the truth that we have come to know about our big two players over the years. They don't show up sometimes in the high pressure games and in that moment it doesn't seem to bother them. They are in a defensive emotional mode and don't seem prepared to handle this kind of pressure by exerting their talent and will. He questioned their pride and spines for all the reasons they had for bringing their best efforts and attitude to this kind of game and instead showing some of weakest desire to keep fighting.
I had to stop listening. Not that he was wrong about any of it. It was that he was able to see this about them in a single game and I'm reminded too much about how this team knew these players all this time better than anyone and still pushed everyone aside to crown them and put all eggs in their baskets. We who watch this team already know the reality that the next 5 years ride or die on the back of these two. No coaching change changes anything about that. It all stems from whether these two kids become men or not. They've showed some very recent signs of positive growth, and then we get this ugly reminder it's still a #process. Thanks for the reminder Embiid, you bastard. May the Big Bad Butler blow your straw house over soon as well.
It's just one game. I'm reminding myself the team didn't have RoCo and he was a big part of the Butler trade that helped our team continue in a positive way and Philly was at full strength. Hopefully the players don't get too down over it and can bounce back stronger for it. What doesn't kill you...
