Thibs obviously had some huge front office and culture issues but it does seem like he indeed knew his stuff basketball wise in many areas.

-He knew this team would be a mess without Butler why he was desperate not to trade him
-Knew Covington would be a huge piece to get back that this team needed if he traded Butler
-Knew it was a bad idea to give Wiggins this contract (apparently tried to trade him and may have been hesitant on the max situation)
-Knew Okogie wasn't ready when us fans were screaming for him to get way more play time
-Knew Rose was a hugely important piece to this team
-Knew Deng still had some game (though he never played him)

I think he did poorly in a lot of other areas, even some X's and O's stuff but I think its becoming pretty clear that he had a good idea on where his team stood. A lot has been slowly revealed about this team these last two seasons.
