Lowe - Timberwolves Still Want D-Russell

Post#1 » by UnFadeable21 » Fri Jun 21, 2019 10:27 pm

Apparently the wolves didn’t draft a PG last night because they still want to make a move for Deangelo Russell

Wolves drafting two shooting guards last night are trying to combine a package of best available players and draft picks.

Here’s a summarized quote from Zach Lowe’s podcast today:

“Minnesota is up to something. Minnesota is up to something. Continues that the Wolves have communicated to the league that they believe they have a pathway to D’Angelo Russell.”

I listened to Lowe. He didn’t say that we didn’t draft a PG because of Russell. All he said was that Rosas has told people that he believes the Wolves have a pathway to acquire Russell. We shall see. Lowe also said he believes Brooklyn may be rethinking Kyrie, which would blow up any chances of acquiring Russell.

Every team in the league is going to start rethinking Kyrie Marbury. Hopefully they don't come to their senses. I remember when Brooklyn got rid of Sam Cassell for Stephon Irving. They went from a 40 win team to a 20 win team.

Rosas said last night in his post draft presser that we didn’t draft for need, we took best available and that the roster isn’t set until October 1st.

No, I know we have been hot for Russell for a while now but Lowe said today that the wolves continue to tell others around the league that we still want him and trying to find a way to accomplish that.

Jonny Athletic on Barreiro just now too " "I don't think the Wolves are done by any stretch of the imagination. They are telling teams out there that they have big plans. Whether that means D-Lo or something else. They're making big time efforts to bring in a real needle mover. Keep your eyes open."

Roco and Dieng to Sacto for Giles or cap space.

Teague and two second round picks for Josh Jackson. Buy out and stretch that salary over 3 years.

If Kwahi signs elsewhere, perhaps Raps are willing to take Wigs off our hands?

Wig/Okogie
Cov/Cul
Naz/KBD
KAT/Dieng

PF is obvious hole. 2/3 we obvious have too much invested.

I am kinda unsure about DLo...he was pretty mediocre in first 3 seasons and then had a great season last year...is that 1 good season enough to warrant a max contract?? Hmm...it's a tough decision for sure...after that Wiggins max contract, I am just lot more afraid about handing out a max contract...with players like KAT, it's a pretty obvious decision to give max but considering DLo's career trajectory so far, I am still not sure whether he is worth a max contract or not.

He became an all star and he’s very good friends with KAT. I think it’s the best decision to keep KAT happy and surround him with talented players that fit his timeline to compete and win.

Lowe was perplexed on how this could even happen. He framed it as a bunch of contracts no one wants.

D Russ is an ascending talent and still has more room to grow. Hope wolves can keep KAT/Covington/Okogie, everybody else can take a hike for Russell

Yea I do find it funny how everyone is clamoring for Russell. I mean he was good this year but I don' know how great he can be. Don't know that's he's a lot better than Teague, its not like bringing in a stud like Jimmy Butler or something.

His year to year improvements and maturation in Brooklyn has been awesome. This is the type of guy Wolves have to gamble for. No established premier players wanna play here, gotta make a play DLo if we got a real shot at it. He and KAT would play perfectly off one another.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
