WOJ: Wolves get Shabazz Napier and Treveon Graham?

Post#1 » by shrink » Mon Jul 1, 2019 10:02 pm

Woj says the Warriors are sending Shabazz Napier and Treveon Graham (acquired in the DAR sign-and-trade) on to Minnesota along with cash.

Helping the Warriors acquire Russell and get farther below the hard cap.

Unbelievable that we helped the Warriors steal DLo from us. I swear this whole thing feels like Kahn all over again

Helping them in order to trade for him from Warriors?
It does not make sense in any other way

How does this benefit us? We can add salary with nothing going out?

Shabazz Napier is a $1,882,867 expiring, that we are probably using the $2.7 mil Patton Exception on, before it expires 11/12

Treveon Graham is on a min contract, so no need to match.

Napier was excellent as a backup POR the previous season, but I’m not sure he got much opportunity last year for the Nets. We can use the cheap depth.

Moving these two cheap players was not going to hold up a DLo trade.

Plenty of teams would have done this deal, so it might as well be us.

I like Tyus too, but it would help us use our full, $9.25 non taxpayer MLE on a PF without going into the lux.

Marcus Morris maybe?

Hopefully we can keep Tyus on a good contract.

Neither of these contracts become guaranteed until July 10, so if we choose, we can simply cut either of them, and use our exceptions on more promising players.

BTW, the Wolves spoke with Tyus Jones Sunday night.

It’s quite possible we could trade away Teague’s expiring deal, sign Tyus, and run Napier as a back up.

Nice to have a Shabazz back on the team!

Any word yet on the other side of this deal? What did we give up?

Bad timing for me to have limited internet access at the start of free agency, but at least I'm back home now.

I don't think your internet is limiting much right now. Many of these things are being reported without both sides of the story. No transparency right now to speak of.

Exactly right. Napier is cheap depth and insurance if Tyus leaves. Napier is a good PG. I like him....doesn't shoot great but I still like him.

Graham won't stay. They will cut him before July 10th.

I like the Jordan Bell pick up too. Not an offensive guy but hustles, rebounds, blocks some shots, defends.

Just a slew of terrible reporting issues going on. They are all trying to report the first hint of anything they hear or are slipped. We aren't hearing the full deals at all. Maybe they don't have to until 6th, not sure.

For all we know Wolves just traded RoCo and Wiggins for Napier, Graham and a cup of coffee donation.

Wouldn't that be amazing if this was all a slow developing three way deal sending Dlo here and sending Wiggins and whoever to War? Have to let our minds dream up something positive to fill the gaps these "reporters" are leaving in these move reports. The alternative is we are confirming the old tale that most of these teams are just farm systems and defacto offshore accounts for the top 4-6 teams.

Maybe Tyus is getting sent there along with RoCo and Dieng with Dlo comnig here?

Well then. He will certainly fit right in here with the Can't Shoot for Sh support group going on here.
