Bad timing for me to have limited internet access at the start of free agency, but at least I'm back home now.

No word yet, but we have these possibilities

Mid-Level Exception - $9.25, can be split up
Bi-Annual Exception - $3.62, can be split up
Traded Player Exception - $2.67 (Patton), expires 11/12/19
Traded Player Exception - $3.48 (Saric), expires 7/6/20
Vet Minimum Exception

Treveon Graham is on a min contract, so no need to match.

Napier was excellent as a backup POR the previous season, but I’m not sure he got much opportunity last year for the Nets. We can use the cheap depth.

Exactly right. Napier is cheap depth and insurance if Tyus leaves. Napier is a good PG. I like him....doesn't shoot great but

Well then. He will certainly fit right in here with the Can't Shoot for Sh support group going on here.

:D It sure seems that way but these guys can help us.

Plus we get the cash whatever it is. I don't get this.

Technically, you can't trade exceptions. Exceptions can be used to absorb salaries. It's possible that's all this is, but just saying it's not really giving up an exception in a trade.

I'm not big on Napier, I've been assured by a few people than he's a handy back-up but his shooting numbers concern me.

I’m aware of that. I have used the parentheses around the word “trade” in cap space deals for years here, and it’s why I listed the exceptions, and some are listed as “can be split up.”

Clearly the move we’ve all been waiting for. My only question is if playoff tickets are first-come-first-served or via lottery?

I remember Portland saying he was good for them.

GMs do this all the time to ensure trust between other GMs. Dallas also helped GSW get Durant by absorbing Bogut years before.

People forget that GMs need trust and reputation

This move cost us nothing (literally, GS even paid us to do it) and we could get a decent 3rd string PG for super cheap (which we need). Further, and this is just speculation, it's probable that this got the Warriors to rescind the QO to Bell in order for us to sign him. So it's not like we just helped them out for nothing.

As for this deal, as I said Napier could stick around as cheap insurance and I'd certainly feel more comfortable with him than someone like Bayless in the role. Graham isn't worth keeping around but eh.

I really like the acquisitions of Napier and Bell. They are both cheap and have potential...good job by Rosas filling out the roster without spending much with no long term commitment.

That is shall we say the opposite of good. To be fair to him over half the shots he takes are 3s and he shoots an adequate 35.4% on those. I think we keep him. He has good compensatory skills as a ball handler and defender.
