It is like he never left. The day Thibs traded Rubio was the saddest day of my life. Now Rosas brought him back.

The more I think about this the happier I get. Rubio is a much better player now than when he left. Think about that. We were rumored to be considering Ball with the #1 pick. We got Rubio, Bolmaro and McDaniels for the #17 pick. Rubio is light years better than Ball. Tall point guards tend to age well. This is a statistically proven fact. Rubio could have 5 good years left. If how he worked with Booker and Mitchell is any indication he will be an ideal running mate with Russell.

The worst part about bringing Ricky back is due to Covid, he won’t be able to receive one of the largest ovations from a Wolves crowd ever for his first home game.

Why the hell didn't they organize some Skype or Zoom connection and put him into some giant LED screen?

Would be dope

So most posting this thread are Rubiobos like myself, and as a lifelong defender, one of the things I've always noted to those trying to downgrade his impact is the lack of defense Rubio was surrounded with in a Wolves jersey.

Not like I'm expecting things to be different in the near future, but I've internally debated who the best defender Rubio played with in a Wolves jersey. Brewer? A 38 year old KG? A 35 year old Tayshaun Prince? The 30-40 games with AK47? Those that blame his shooting shortcomings on past Wolves failures never seem to acknowledge the lack of defense this team has fielded over the years. In what is meant to be a lighter talking point, who do you have as the best defender Rubio played with in MN?

I'd say Daunte Cunningham.

Pretty clearly old KG. He was still elite on defense. KG still had a +11.2 on/off in his last season lol

Looking up Net rating over the years, which is kind of organic stat because does not ponder anything other than actual outputs of gametime, Rubio track is following:

2019-2020, Phoenix: +4.7 ON/-4.2 OFF, team was +8.2 points better when he was on the floor.
2018-2019, Jazz 2nd Season: +5.6 ON/ +3.5 OFF, team was +2.1 points better when he was on the floor.

I don't have On/off stats for 2017 and earlier but I will compare his net rating vs his team net rating:

2017-2018, Jazz 1st Season: +4.7 ON, team was +4.4, +0.3 differential.
2016-2017, Thibs 1st Season: -0.8 ON, team was +0.9, +0.1 differential.
2015-2016, Mitchell 1st Season: +0.5 ON, team was -3.5, +4.0 differential.
2014-2015, Flip last Season: -1.5 ON, team was -9.1, +7.6 differential.
2013-2014, Adelman last Season: +6.6 ON, team was +2.6, +4 differential.
2012-2013, Adelman 2nd Season: -1.8 ON, team was -2.2, +0.4 differential.
2011-2012, Adelman 1st Season: 2.1 ON, team was-2.2, +4.3 differential.

but...but...his shooting makes it easy to pack the paint and double Love/KAT/Best Player so the offense must be worse!

Rubio's minutes in both Utah years were just under 30 mins/g at 27/29
For Suns they went up to 31.
I think for MN he was always over 30.
- I'm actually hoping for 26-27 at most this time around to keep him energized and healthier when on court. He's hit the 30 age now, don't need him breaking down come playoff time like I think happend for both Utah and then in bubble for Suns.

I forgot that he already has chemistry with Juancho.

I always wanted to see him play with a Gasol brother, but I can settle for this.

I actually thought he looked pretty tired at times in the bubble. Makes sense given that he tested positive for COVID and didn't get to participate in training camp or the warmup scrimmages.
