I strongly believe that Bolmaro needs good coaching in order to succeed. He is a special player, but he needs a special situation. It might be very similar to Doncic/DAL story. I have a lot of concerns that Doncic would have been very successful in SAC or ATL without Carslile. Hopefully Bolmaro continues to progress under Saras coaching and he will find a good situation in MIN once he come here. For those who dont know, Saras is European Legend, the most promising young coach in Europe.

If he plays hard, with that skill set, isn't that pretty much an ideal SF for us if we keep shooters at other spots? I am not saying I love or hate the pick, I wanted Woodard II, but give him a chance.

There's a lot to like/love about Bolmaro.

Do we know when he is coming over? Is it this season (seems highly unlikely,) next season (more likely,) or a situation where the team has not talked with him and he might just not want to come to us for whatever reason? I am honestly asking as I know absolutely nothing about him.

We are looking at what he is expected to become. I thought he was 19 right now.

Turned 20 in Sep, so he played a whole season as a 19 year old, he'll be 20 coming into this next season overseas..

Manu Ginobili came into the league at 25 years old, a few years letting him marinate and mature, he could be a good pick for us.

Watch the highlight video I linked in the first post of this thread. What stands out to me is just how aggressively Bolmaro plays. He gets the ball he is constantly looking to attack and has the excellent ball handling and passing skills to succeed at attacking the opposing defense.

To break this down for everyone....

James Johnson and #17
for
Ricky Rubio, #25, and #28

#25 and #33
for
Mathias Lessort (rights), #23 (Bolmaro), and Detroit's 2023 Second Round Draft Pick

I kind of think that the PR team is wrong here, but if not, that is a terrific deal by getting the 2023 Second Round Draft Pick.

What else is in this trade? What is LAC or MN giving NYK for LAC to get #33?

What's a Mathias Lessort? I have to look him up now. So it wasn't as bad as it seemed trading up for Bolmaro.

Minneapolis-St. Paul – Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas tonight announced the team has acquired the draft rights to Mathias Lessort from the Los Angeles Clippers and a 2023 Second Round Pick from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for the draft rights to the number 33 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft Daniel Oturu.

Lessort, a 6-9 forward from Fort-de-France, Martinique, France, was originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 50th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He currently plays for AS Monaco in the LNB Pro A League (France). In seven professional seasons overseas, Lessort has averaged 7.5 points on 59.0% shooting and 4.9 rebounds. He competed for the French National Team during the 2019 FIBA World Cup where he totaled 23 points and 13 rebounds in six games.

Oturu, a 6-10 forward/center, spent two seasons at the University of Minnesota where he ranked 26th in the nation in scoring (20.1 ppg), eighth in rebounding (11.3 rpg), tied for 21st in blocks (2.45 bpg) and 31st in field goal percentage (56.3) as a sophomore in 2019-20. Oturu earned honors as a 2019-20 AP All-America Honorable Mention selection and was named to the 2019-20 All-Big Ten Second Team and Big Ten All-Defensive Team.

Lessort is effectively a flexibility throw-in, no reason to analyze that.

This makes more sense to me:

A. MN is trading the #33 to the LAC for the rights to Lessort and the Detroit 2021 2nd
B. MN is trading #17 and James Johnson to OKC for Rubio + #25 + #28
C. MN is trading #25 and Detroit 2021 2nd to NYK for #23

We officially received the Detroit pick, but then send it out to NYK to move up 2 spots.

Clear as mud. LOL I get it. With our staff being so international it can be an advantage and a curse. I like Bolmaro a lot, but is it possible that RJ Hampton would have been the better selection? Does Lessort have any business being on an NBA team? Hopefully they don't make player moves that are overly biased for internationals.

Any overseas watchers with the insight in if Bolmaro will have an increased role next season?

For those who speak Spanish. Something about 24th in the draft. He was only one off. Can somebody translate.

Pieced together from google translate and my limited Spanish knowledge.

He’s essentially saying that it’s a great day for Argentinian basketball that Bolmaro was drafted 24th by the Wolves. That he’s excited that he will be coached by Prigioni and that Argentinians have another team to cheer on because of those two things.

Lessort and the DET 2nd are going to the Knicks.

Hopefully Bolmaro blows up and becomes at least a nice tradeable asset.
He looks pretty raw right now offensively, but the defense projects well.

I love his relentless attacking offense. I believe he's an excellent prospect both offensively and defensively.
