Nobody talks about Scottie Barnes as a PF from Fl St. The guy can flat out play.

Cade hurt himself in the tournament. He is so slow and certainly not an alpha. He's fools gold.

Barnes can’t shoot or hit free throws though:/
I can actually see Rosas not giving up on John Collins. Beasley and??

DLo
Green
Ant
Collins
Towns

Offensively that starting lineup would be pretty incredible at least. Defensively?

You might be right.

My hot take is this draft class got overhyped, last draft class got underrated. I don’t see a #1 option type star in this draft like I did last year. Cunningham is very skilled but I don’t see primary creator at the next level. Suggs obviously not a first or second option but love his tempo and all around basketball skills. These guys have roles they could play right away. Everyone else in this top 5 or whatever people thought it was looks like a big project. Green seems to have a decent shot map in my eyes, but he seems like a project as well and is very wiry. Mobley needs a PG to create for him, because his ability to get his own shot is not there in the NBA. Good passing instincts tho. Kuminga definitely a project. I like both Jalen Johnson and Scottie Barnes. Could see Johnson making early impacts as a role player. Barnes probably more of a project. I like Kispert. Definitely would package this pick and Beasley for a star even at #1.

I agree. I don't see a superstar coming from this draft, at the top I see guys that will be very valuable 2nd option, fringe all-star type, super role player guys. I do really like the top 3 guys though. All 3 would be pretty good fits here, even though it seems like Kat/DLO/Edwards/McDaniels will be here for the future.

This draft doesn’t have a no-doubt star like Zion or AD. But I think, as prospects, the top four probably would go before anyone from last year (if we are looking at last years guys as prospects and not considering this year).

Green is the one guy that might become a big time scoring star. But he’s like Ant, he has a lot of questions regarding what else he does to help winning. Cunningham, Suggs, and Mobley are more complete/winning type players but don’t know that any of them will ever be the best guy on a championship team.

This league likes to fall into the trap of looking for "the next....." Right now, Cunningham is the next Doncic in many eyes, but I don't think that's the right prototype. He has a high floor, but I'm not sure about the ceiling yet.

At what point, and how much, does fit matter?

For better or worse, the Wolves have made their bed (long-term contracts) with Russell, Beasley, Edwards, McDaniels and Towns. I'm not sure taking another swing at BPA is the answer...

Why not , you don’t draft for fit because of dlo and Beasley..

Jalen Green has warts but I am still taking chances and swinging for the fences with him. He glides and jumps like Ant Edwards but will probably be a much better shooter. We need this guy! He can be the 1a to Ant’s 1b.
The other three are more role players IMO.

I doubt Rosas will trade the pick (if they get the pick) Look at what Ball, Edwards and Haliburton are doing this season, their value is already much greater than the value of the pick before the draft. wolves need the same to happen again in case things go south Next season with KAT.

They might go before them in a draft if they were all prospects but I think Ball and Edwards are going to be better than anyone in this draft. I thought the narrative around last years draft was way off especially on Ball and the depth of the draft. I like Cunningham, Suggs and Mobley a lot but not as anything more than 2nd or even 3rd or 4th best players on your team. Both Ball and Edwards look like potential number 1 options. I’m not sure what to think on Green yet. He doesn’t look as good as Ant did as a prospect IMO.

When are you going to build a team instead of a collection of individuals?

In your case, you want Green. To me, there would be too much overlap with Edwards. Then again, I prefer Edwards at SG (McDaniels being the SF).

Some peepo just want that hype hope coming in every season like a new drug or something. They've given up on winning games in this league. He names Dlo and Beasley as guys that wouldn't stop him from drafted another. Well who will? Because he left out Edwards, Neeva wants this Green character now. Who's coming the year after that? Because with all these players that all need court time to keep their values up to ever have a chance of moving any of them for positive gain, you do more then risk lowering value of all of them. You guarantee it and the team will lose from the ever building mis fit logjams. But oh boy when that generational guy comes around 2022 and the Wolves don'tt even have a pick anymore. Oh boy. They going to just work on the current roster that year?

My favorite prospect is Mobley because he's really good and he can slide right into this roster. He's got enough perimeter skills to play PF and can protect the rim enough to play center if you want to play KAT more at the 4. I like Cunningham a lot and Suggs would be interesting, but I think you will have to shake up the roster to get playing time for the rookie.

Among the big 3, I would draft any one of them and wouldn't worry about the current roster.

Agreed, the starting 5 of Dlo, Ant, McD, Mobley and Kat and have Rubio, Beasley, Juancho, Layman and Reid of the bench would be a deep group!

Jalen Johnson of Duke seems like he could be a good long term fit at the 4. Destined to be a solid role playing starter. Maybe a Larry Nance type? I suppose we'd need to find a way to trade for a mid-first to get him.

Not a fan but it is possible that New Orleans might like Beasley next to Lonzo Ball, they really need a good shooting guard.

Gonna listen to this pod focused on Jalen Johnson for the commute home. Should be interesting. I am intrigued by him as well but I don't have a complete/concrete view of him quite yet.

I agree with this. Any 1 of the 3 fits, and we really shouldn't even say "he doesn't fit" or "we've already got xxx" or "we've got too many guards".

Cunningham - Can play the 1-3 (and small ball 4) and certainly play next to DLo and Ant. Think of the weaponry! And who cares if player X is "stealing touches or shots" from player Y. If player X is good and player Y whines and can't adapt then it's the coaching staff's job to bring player Y on board.

Mobley - Can "probably" play next to KAT although I think he's more of a center. I do worry that he's primarily a center and also worry about his lack of physicality and aggression. But the upside is enough to say "who cares" if we have KAT, he could be THAT damn good...

Suggs - If you like DLo off the ball, which this coaching staff obviously does, Suggs is literally the perfect PG for this squad.

Right now, in order of preference, I go Cunningham, Suggs, then Mobley. I get my physical front-court player in free agency by:
-Trading an asset this summer to free up some $$
-Offer Daniel Theis the mid-level after we'll have money to afford it.

Theis doesn't even make the mid-level right now so he would probably take it and would be perfect as a physical enforcer who can play the 4 or the 5. And plus, he sets screens so well some consider it illegal!

https://sports.yahoo.com/daniel-theis-signature-move-become-061000570.html

He could create even MORE space for Ant or DLo in the pick and roll. Plus he rebounds, defends, and has a physical presence...

It boggles my mind that people don’t consider Green as top 3...he will be a much better pro than Cunningham and Mobley.

[*]I would consider the current roster and I’d probably favor Mobley because of that. I think he does the most for us defensively. Ant is a dominant offensive force or he’s nothing, so if we’re going to proceed as if he’s part of our future, I’d look for somebody who can compliment him and Towns.

I could make a case for any of the top four. I just hope we keep our pick. I’d be much happier if Rosas would have just put top four protection on it. That way we’d at least have a better than 50% chance. And I’m not a big Kuminga guy, so I could live with losing it five and down.
