Post Game Thoughts. Hosting Lakers.

Post#1 » by coolcono » Wed Feb 17, 2021 3:38 am

Great- Ant looked great. Tonight he proved why he is a better player/prospect than Beasely. Great Handle, rebounding, shooting.
Good- Rubio facilitated the offense well. He didn't shoot that well, but the offense seemed to flow well with him out there.

Meh-Vanderbilt- He seemed to guard Lebron fairly well, but he cannot hit close layups. :(
McL- Made some nice shoots, but was careless with the ball.

Bad- Beasely stunk tonight. If he had shot better, they would have easily won.
Reid- I just don't like Reid that much. Decent offensively, but his lack of rebounding ability and awareness set me off.
Saunders! Everyone could sense the late third quarter lineup wasn't a threat offensively.
I would write about Okogie, but let's point out things that aren't a given.

Tough loss by our Minnesota Timberwolves vs the LA Lakers.

-Ryan Saunders waited way too long to bring the starters back in the 4th. He didn’t bring the starters back until 6:30 left in the 4th. By that time, the Wolves were already down 14 points.

-Anthony Edwards has his best game of the season. That 3 in Lebron’s face was awesome.

-10 shots for KAT was way too low & none in the 4th, that’s on Ryan too. That also played a factor why we lost tonight.

-That Vando missed lay up was the dagger. Would of been 102-105 but he missed it wide open, Lakers make the bucket and brought the lead to 107-100.

We played well. The Lakers are better than us.

Pretty encouraging performance imo.

Anthony Edwards is becoming a serious problem and I am amazed others don’t see it. He refuses to pass and takes stupid shots often double teamed instead of passing to open 3 point shooters. He is playing like Andrew Wiggins and you guys are encouraged. I am glad he is getting to the rim and is confident enough to shoot 3s, but he is killing the rythm of his teammates. If Edwards doesn’t play keep away from KAT and Beasley we probably win the game. Edwards is seriously overrated.

But his value is going up. If Rosas has balls and doesn't sleep on the job maybe he can get Beal for Ant and Beas or Russel.

KAT took 10 shoots all game. Edwards took 20. Does anyone know a link to a shot chart for Edwards? Also, does anyone know a site that would have breakdowns of shots by quarter?

They were feeding Ant the ball and he was producing in the 4th. Had 8 points himself in the span of 2 mins, what do you want him to do?

If anything, Vanderbilt should'e passed it to KAT when he got that one offensive board. Ant didn't do anything wrong..

Lol @ him playing like Wiggins...and overrated? All people do is say he sucks, nobody even talks about him in mainstream media, they're literally all over Lamelo Ball(s)

Objectively false, the starters were brought in with 8:15, and the team was down nine points.

I actually fully agree that Anthony Edwards has a massive problem with operating in a team environment offensively. He misses a lot of easy reads, and his spacing is horrible off-ball (he doesn’t clear out for other players to cut/flare out). That said, he was obviously a massive positive tonight, overall.

All Ant comments should be glowingly positive after that game.

Tonight showed the clear difference between a veteran team and an extremely young team. The vet team made the plays down the stretch and got the calls from the refs, while the young team struggled to score in the second half when the young second unit of 21 year olds was on the floor. The Lakers rotation is pretty much all 27+ age guys who are physically mature and are very experienced. The Wolves vets are 24 and half the rotation is 21 and under.

With enough time I'd be fairly optimistic about the Wolves future, the problem is the clock is ticking on Towns getting leverage to force a trade. I don't know which will happen first, that the Wolves young guys get experience and grow into what they will become or the team runs out of time.

I would like to see some of that 3-man action we ran w/ Ricky, DLO, and KAT down the stretch that we used to close out the first two games of the year, but obviously sub out DLO for Ant

I just checked, KAT and them came in at the 815 mark and we were down. Ricky came back in at the 7 min mark.

At the 645 mark we were down 14 points.
