Post Game Thoughts. Hosting Suns.
Good- Towns looked great, particularly in the third quarter. He took too many threes when he wasn't hitting in the 4th.
Layman-Looked like a good player off the bench tonight.
McL looked great off the bench
Meh- Edwards- He had some great attacks, but needs to eliminate the free throw line shots. I will say that I like those shots better than Wiggins shots.
Bad-Vanderbilt is more of a liability on offense than Okogie. That is saying something.
Reid proves he is a big doofus again.
Nowell- He stinks, but he is like a kicker with shot confidence. He needs to move on.
Other thoughts- Don't play Okogie and Vanderbilt together. The other team can concentrate on the other players on offense.
We should stagger Rubio and Edwards if Edwards is going to bring the ball up. They can play together, but Rubio should primarily be bringing up the ball when he is in.
McD earned more time than this.

For the life of me, I can't understand how Jaden has been seemingly pulled out of the rotation.
He is already our best defender, and can hit open threes. This is valuable developmental time we are throwing away. If he's healthy, there is absolutely zero excuse to bench him like this.

Re: Post Game Thoughts. Hosting Suns.
Good
Edwards offensively first half. Well rounded game and overall looks very promising
Towns efficient and punishing mismatches offensively.
Solid game from layman
Devin Booker
Nowell can't play worse. He's played quite a few OK games.and today just did a lot of small dumb things.
Still a great chance to stay in this draft
Finch now knows what lineups are putrid
Bad
Okogie offensively hurts more then what he brings offensively
Anything on-court a traditional PF brings
Vanderbilt ain't it
Culver is a less extreme Okogie
Offensive IQ of a Texas Senator.
Naz Reid is a horrific defensive center
McDaniels cut playing time. If we're going to tank let him play
Letting Booker curl to the hoop with ease and take open shoulder jumpers.
We gotta look at if we really can carry Vanderbilt/Okogie/Culver. Teams can carry one in rotation of 10 or so. Were carrying 3 guys who can't get themselves a Bucket and are not amazing plus defenders

Re: Post Game Thoughts. Hosting Suns.
We went from leading teams with double digits to blowing it away and losing
To being down double digits and then rallying to make it close and ultimately losing again
To being competitive in the first half before being blown out in the 3rd or 4th quarter and losing badly
This team is a roller coaster of emotion

Yet another game where Anthony Edwards "runs" the offense half the time and takes a **** ton of idiotic shots that he can't make. Yet another year where the Minnesota Timberwolves do all they can to sabotage the season looking to pump their last 1st round pick's numbers up and get as many ping pong balls as possible to draft their next one. This is the dumbest franchise in sports history. I really can't understand how anyone can continue to excuse and support this ****. That is not loving your team, that's either being just as dumb as them or suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

Re: Post Game Thoughts. Hosting Suns.
Edwards' numbers for the last 7 games, since he played so 'great' against the Lakers and cost them the game by handling the ball every possession, missing shot after shot and losing the ball in the last 4 minutes:
30.8% FG with 18FGA per 36 minutes
26.4% 3PT with 8 3PTA per 36 minutes
36.8% EFG
40.5% TS
1.3 A/TO ratio
This is freaking stupid, and it's only gotten worse with Finch. Over the last 4 games he's now at 21 FGA and 10 3PTA per 36 minutes! WTF?

Crazy numbers!
Perfect for tanking purpose but i doubt this is helpful for his development.

Goes to show that the organization has learned nothing from the mistakes they made with developing Wiggins.

Wiggins' rookie year was 5 head coaches ago.

I hate to say it, because he seems like such a good kid and obviously has physics tools, but this is exactly how he played at UGA. The thought he’d step into the NBA and suddenly become efficient with a higher BBIQ was ridiculous. The hope is that he has a Lavine or Oladipo like work ethic and you start to see jumps around years 2, 3, and 4. If his work ethic is Wiggins-like, this franchise was set back a decade with the pick.

Thanks for getting these numbers together, Sugarless.
Rookies are going to be bad. Every year, almost every one of the top ten statistically worst players come from the lottery. They need to learn the speed and athleticism of the nba game, and break all the bad habits that led to previous success against lesser college players. Give them the ball, and they will be bad.
Personally, I look for flashes. Show me a quick first step. Maybe the player has no idea what to do with it at this point, but it’s an nba abi,it’s that can be built upon. Show me an athletic dunk. Show me a game with range. Show me the mental toughness to go dunk on the guy that just put you on the ground.
Edwards is not going to be the Wolves savior, especially in his 27th game in the nba. He’s not going to change this losing team into a winning one today. But I hope consistency will come, and I remain encouraged by the flashes I see now.

Not saying he has Wiggins like work ethic...just saying Wolves are doing the same mistake again of letting him play through his mistakes instead of educating him what his mistakes are.

I never saw Wiggins as someone who would go out trying to be the hero. His problem seemed to be laziness, annoying but far less detrimental to the teams' success. Ant is chuckign this teams' chances and sprit away, laughing.

I found it remarkable to follow the suns' rollercoaster from two seasons ago, to last season, to how great they look now.
Two seasons ago, they had a guy on their team that was known to be a monster scorer, but also as a player who doesnt make a team better. They were the laughing stock of the league even more so than the Wolves, remember the "i dont want to be here" tweet? They even got thier #1 pick in ayton, but still sucked with him and Booker.
Then they got Rubio, but instnatly lost Ayton to a 25 game suspencion. The seasons' start was a night mare, about as bad or worse than the wolves now if i remember correctly.
But heres the key differernce. Instead of calling it a day, because under regular circumstances, there was no way to reach the post season any more, and go in to full tanking mode, Monty Williams had the team just continue to compete. They kept fighting for every game, until eventually they turned things around, and got invited to the bubble. They went 8-0 in the bubble playing some really tough teams (i belive clippers, Heat, Philly and 2x Dallas included). They went out nontheless, but they went home proudly and with the understanding they can literally beat everyone. They had established a winning culture. And this very same team, with the change of CP3 for Rubio, is continuing to shine now, and they will make the playoffs unless we see major injury. TAHts why you keep fighting for wins and dont throw it all away.

How anyone can say Towns had a good game must only care about offensive production, and even that wasn't that great, he could hardly get position. Defensively got owned again.

You mean giving the keys to the proverbial castle to a promising rookie is a bad idea?
That letting him pad volume stats at the expense of efficiency and winning is a bad idea?
That touting his every good play while ignoring the three bad plays is a bad idea?
That giving him more and more and more responsibilities and minutes for the worst team in the league is a bad idea?
______
Hogwash! THIS TIME... that strategy is gonna work.
Maybe?

I know right. Dude has been awful on the defensive end of the floor every single night.
His matchup's are all getting numbers above their average.
Giannis, WCJ, Wizards bigs, Ayton... the latest ones.
