Looks like that Rubio cap savings will be used to keep both these guys.

Ant
Prince
Jaden
KAT

Jmac - RFA
Beasley
Okogie
Vando - RFA
Naz

Layman
Culver
Bolmaro - Unsigned
Juancho

I think we use the 10 million to sign all 3 of those guys and our roster is pretty much set at 14 players for next season

No, Krawczynski even mentioned in his latest pod the team knows, even after the Rubio trade, the PF or C position (if Towns slides to PF) needs an upgrade.

Rosas said it is something the Wolves are pursuing.

Two way - McKinley Wright

Our roster is pretty much full with 15 guys and one two way contact.

4-5 million for vando

2 million for jmac

2 million for Bolmaro rookie scale

That’s 9 million out of 10 million we have from moving Rubio.

Nobody wants our trash expiring contracts in Juancho, Layman or Culver. Jazz had to pay Thunder a future first to take Favors contract.

I rather not pay draft picks and just play it out. I actually like our team.

I say just play it out and let all those guys expire. Prince, Juancho, Culver, & Layman.

That’s will be about $30 million gone after this season.

I've always been a KAT= C with two combo forwards at SF/PF, but Wolves have been so bad at defense with KAT at C in so many different lineups (even with Butler and Taj), hard not to consider getting him out of paint protector role

he'll still get attacked in pick/roll constantly, but maybe if there is a legit defender as a backstop, Wolves can maybe average D

The issue is KAT gets a lot of quick and silly fouls when guarding the 5. Thibs made Taj guard the 5 and it helped. KAT is a distance shooter who spends a lot of time behind the line so he is often guarded by 4s as well. Having another legit big would make switching harder for other teams and allow KAT or the other center to be one on one against another big more frequently, either way it is a huge opportunity. KAT is a legit 4 and even if he is a 5 playing 4 twin towers is much more effective than small ball.

Bolmaro is on scale ($2.3mil) the other two are minimum contract guys. Our MLE should be intact.

Favors' contract runs through 2023 ($20mil total). A FRP is light, so good news. Regardless, it is not an apt comparison as none of our guys are that negative.

Wolves now they go into free agency $9.2 million below the luxury tax line, according to The Athletic’s salary cap expert Danny Leroux. The Wolves are over the salary cap, but that deal gave them almost the entire $9.5 million midlevel exception to use when the market opens, but that does not include bringing back restricted free agents Jarred Vanderbilt and Jordan McLaughlin.

The Wolves had discussions with Vanderbilt about a possible extension, but those went nowhere, sources said, and now they will have the right to match any offer that comes along for him or McLaughlin.

I would imagine both players were told, “have your agent test the market, and we’ll let you know if we want to match.”

Unless they accept low offers, I wouldn’t expect them to be some of the first signings when free agency opens.

In other words if it is not a minimum deal, we likely let them walk.

Disappointing, if true. Rosas' top agenda item when FA open was to have a face-to-face with McLaughlin. PF can wait, the real need is backup PG.

Jmac is more like third string:/ than backup.

How is he a priority, especially being a RFA?

I don't get a multi-year for JMAC, but if its essentially minimum contract

smacks of a GM wanting to be able to point at a undrafted "gem" he found, while his #6 pick is trying to be dumped

Jmac was really good the season before last, seemed like a great system fit. He could be that again I think, I'm not mad about retaining him. I am worried about us not making some more roster changes, healthy we have an outside shot if we get some internal improvement but I'd feel a lot better about our odds if we got a talent injection.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.
