Early-season home stretch

Post#1 » by Klomp » Fri Oct 1, 2021 11:27 pm

This is where we can really make a statement! There shouldn't really be any excuses. It's time we get out to a hot start for once!

We start off like 2/10 McDaniels, Ant, and 6 firsts are being traded for Simmons lol.

I could actually see us going 4-4. Pelicans could split. Nuggets could stomp, Bucks could stomp. Clippers we could split. If we come out 6-2 I will be pretty ecstatic.

7-1 due to that ridiculous 8pm start time.
Oh and Denver is a bad match up.

If we get Simmons for Prince, Beas, and picks then we start 7-1.

I can't believe we start with 7 out of 8 home games. I've never heard of such a thing.

Yep. I think 5-3 is a safe bet. I want to go 6-2 and be super optimistic. Why not? We have 2 past all stars and one future all star starting. A great coach. New ownership! My god I can't stand all the great news. But I'll take it.

Now watch us come out 5-17 and I'll be despondent.

I see a 6-2 record. I think we can sweep NOP, and I know we’ll be up for Denver because it’s a division game. I see us dropping the Bucks game and one to the Clippers. Best case 7-1, worse case 5-3. We’re deep enough to challenge anyone in the league and our continuity should serve us well early in the season.

If the Pelicans don't have Zion, I see Minnesota winning both. Plus, the early crowds should be great. I can see a lot of early interest plus all the free tickets Arod/Lore gave away at the scrimmage. It's going to be an insane environment for the first few games. I can see 3-0 without a doubt.

I also think the Clippers with all of their changes and no Kawhi could get off to a slow start. Pat Bev will be a menace those nights.

We shouldn't underrate continuity early in the season.

I'm high on the wolves and think we will be a playoff team but I think we start this stretch close to .500. Bucks seem like a lock kind of loss. Clippers are a good team and if their stars are on their game we could lose both. Nuggets are really good too. Then you got the Pelicans who we are probably on the same level with (though I think we will be better as the season goes on).

That NO double dip will be huge for confidence. Lots of folks are crowning the Pels and ignoring us, but a couple of statements could put us on the radar as a team to be reckoned with.

anything less than 5-3 would be a relatively disappointing start if we want to make playoffs

I agree. Protecting home court is going to be vital. Likewise getting off to a good start will keep the young guys hungry and engaged. Also, the Wolves have a lot of soft opponents or opponents with big injuries. The Clippers witho Leonard, the Pels without Zion, GSW without Klay. We need to capitalize.
