They should have Fowles sit out this season and retire after next season instead.
Bueckers or Boston though?

Well, I doubt it's a choice at this point. You can't start out this slow, regardless of their issues, in a 36 (?) game season.

Last season they lost their first four and finished with a 22-10 record.

Which is nice, but the issues they’re having now aren’t the same IIRC.
This isn’t a team trying to gel. This is a team of replacements that are failing to execute even basic plays. Whenever they start getting players back, THEN they’ll be going through the chemistry building phase which itself might be ugly.
It’s not insurmountable but who wants to put themselves in that kind of hole that will require going 22-10?

I haven't watched the last couple of seasons. How bad is it? Why are we at this point? We blew it up recently?

Maya quit.
Simone left/retired
Whalen retired
Pretty much what happened to Pop after the Spurs big 3 were done.

I have no idea, but I did hear Cheryl Reeves compare it to last year and suggest this is a team that needs to gel.

In a 12-team league, you can't lose your two Team USA players and win games. They will be better when McBride comes back, but I'm okay with them missing the postseason and getting a lottery pick. Also, play Davis/Shepard as much as possible.
I do think it's important to remember college stars can make $$$ through NIL. It would not surprise me if Paige stayed at UCONN through 2025 - she gets a Covid year. I'm sure UCONN alums can pay her more than the WNBA and it wouldn't surprise me if UCONN has more amenities.
I'd love to have Boston or Paige, but they both may stay in school if they can get big NIL deals.

Even without the NIL deals, WNBA players don't make enough where coming out early is no brainer decision it is in the NBA.
