Regarding Gobert of course there is risk, but I believe the reward could and would be HUGE. No guts no glory. Go all in on it.

It could very well be crippling if it doesn't work out. I'm not confident this is the move to push all your chips in.

I don't think Utah wants his contact they just don't want to pay to get out from under it. I don't think the asking price is high, regardless of what might be said, they just need to find a team willing to break up his long-term salary probably in a combination of ways. Both CHI and ATL seem made for this, which might have to do with their rumored interest. I don't see MN as interested in Gobert but rather dialogue with teams is a result of expanding into a Russell and/or Beasley trade. To me this is the very obvious explanation of things that otherwise make no sense.

@Baseline81, gonna respond here without quoting. Hope that is okay.

To start with your last point, if it fails we trade Gobert. Gobert has huge value within the league. One less year on his deal and one more year on his body won’t destroy that. Maybe we lose a little more value than we gave on resale (in the worst case,) but we can still get a lot for a player like Rudy.

I agree about floor spacing. But I also believe that a big presence inside for offensive rebounds and put backs is important. Gobert is a better interior player. I also believe one non shooter isn’t the end of the world if the other shooters are good enough. Draymond is the easiest example, but Thybull and plenty others prove the point. In fact Utah uses him in that exact same way and keeps getting to and advancing in the playoffs. The Mavs may have had their number this year, but in general Utah thrived because of Gobert, even though he is a non shooter.

I hope UTA will blow up, with Gobert traded to East. Let Embiid and Gobert play against each other. Meanwhile Towns will dominate West.

It wouldn't surprise me if Utah enters a rebuild. Ainge's new coach signed on 5-year deal. Yesterday, the Jazz traded O'Neale to Brooklyn for a first round pick.

I understand that. You have a right to be skeptical. I trust the stats regarding Rudy and how he would change an extreme weakness into a big strength. No guts no glory.

I would pay $100 to just see Embiid play one game against Pekovic in his prime. I think Embiid the bully would avoid Pek at all costs, but if he engaged he would end up going home crying to mommy. That would be beautiful to behold.

For those arguing that Gobert would hurt our offense, I believe you are not only wrong but he would actually improve our offense.
The advanced stats say so, but those arguing against Gobert ignore those so how about this.
The Wolves had the highest scoring team in the league with Vanderbilt starting. Vandy isn't any more of an outside threat than Rudy and Rudy is massively better in the pick and roll and fron the donkeys spot.

Our offense will be just fine with Rudy.

Would you be okay trading for Gobert if it meant McDaniels was going the other way?

NO. NO. NO.

I'm no pro but I'd forget about Gobert and target Turner and Brogden instead... as long as it keeps the core intact. If we can send expirings/picks for T&B I'd consider that a boon and forgo flexibility next year.

I would, but it would have to include Russell. Do they have a decent guard on a smallish contract we could get back? I don't think a legit starting PG other than Russell is on our roster so we would have to have something worked out for that.

Brogdon off the board. I think a similar deal can be had for Turner.

Pretty much they only have Conley, and that deal is far from small, lol.

Really good deal for Boston, damn. If he can be healthy in the playoffs that's great for them.

Atlanta could still be in on Gobert, maybe we can snag Capela? Atl just traded Huerter and got a pick, opens the door for them needing a shooter like Beasley.
