Re: The Fire Tim Connelly Thread
I usually try not to overreact but my first thoughts are that this is almost a fireable trade from Connelly. I am shocked at what we gave up and the idea of having both KAT, Gobert on max contracts. Maybe I might come around once the season starts but at the moment, I feel sick about this trade.

Gobert is locked up for the next four (4) years, all while he's still in his prime, and is arguably one of the best defensive players in the NBA ever. If you want to shoot for the moon, it comes at a cost.

I hear we gave up 4 FRPs. We sent out no bad contracts. Kessler is another FRP. I love Rudy, but man that is a lot.

Its the price of a top 10-15 player in the league.

Stats say he is easily top 10.

Depends what you value.
Every metric you can possibly look at screams "Rudy Gobert is a top 10 player".
He led a Jazz team to a record and SRS in 2021 which was unrivaled from the rest of the league and he was by far the best player on that team.
Our team on paper is a better team than the 2021 Jazz team who, had Conley and Mitchell been healthy, could have won an NBA Championship.

This is bad, Connely gave Utah like 2 picks and a pick swap too much

Re: The Fire Tim Connelly Thread
Damn, and here I thought Connelly hated trading players since he connects with them too much. But he has traded Beasley and Vanderbilt twice already!

It's really not.
4 FRP (really 5 because of this year's) with only one having any protection, plus a swap, plus a bunch of expiring contracts and/or cheap useful players.

Re: The Fire Tim Connelly Thread
It’s a really good move. Any of us could start next Gobert, Towns, Ant, and DLo and have a decent shot at the Western Conference finals. And for those worried about the picks, it doesn’t hurt you if you are good and if it turns out bad you could move Towns and Gobert for picks down the road, the cap is going up.
