How many national games do the Wolves ge this year?

Last year we technically got 4 but really only got one 1 because 3 were on NBA TV and no one really considers that a big deal national game and the one other lone game was on TNT.

Generally, we get a few games from ESPN and maybe 1 TNT game if we are lucky.

With the Gobert deal going down, us making the playoffs, and Anthony Edwards turning into a major NBA personality, how many national games do you think we will get excluding NBA TV? Will we get a Christmas game?

Some examples from last season.

Knicks got 22 games

Hawks got 14

Pelicans got 10

Clippers got 15

Rockets got 1

Memphis 7

Bulls 5 after making moves for Derozen and Ball

We were the 7 seed last year. Not just in record but also in the playoffs after winning the play in game. That alone should get us a fair number. Add to that the hype of the Gobert trade and the monumental shift it could represent (if big ball works,) and I genuinely believe people want to watch us. Probably at least 10 to start and we might flex in a bunch more.

I think 6 or 7 is a decent number. A few things in our favor:

-Ant is a star on and off the court. They will try to market him. A couple games just for that.
-Gobert addition. I'd expect at least one national game against the Jazz.
-I think the league will still play up the Wiggins-Russell trade narrative. There's at least one more.

The West is changing. I know the Lakers are still the Lakers, but I wonder if they'll be hurt in the chase for games by the fact of how poorly last year went. These stations do love drama though. The interesting thing is that a good chunk of the compelling West teams are in the Central time zone. Us, Memphis, New Orleans, Dallas. All will be fighting for these leftover games, which could bring the number down as it's easier to give late games to teams in California, Arizona and Oregon.

One against Memphis as a playoff rematch game. One against the Clippers as a play in rematch. Maybe one against Utah if the league is curious enough (Rudy homecoming game.) Plus the usual big market opponent games (NYK and maybe Nets,) plus one against the Warriors. Plus probably a few more depending on schedule (days where we are one of only a few teams playing.) My guess is probably 12-13 after flexing if we are very competitive.

I find it remarkable that post-Gobert trade, the odds makers have us with the 8th best title odds in the West. We moved back a spot!

I usually follow the rule of thumb that says not to bet on the team you root for, but i might make an exception in this case.

Big ball isn’t the hot thing right now. Plus, small market Wolves won’t get respect till we earn it.

Probably 6. I dont think Gobert really moves the pendulum in terms of prime time.

I think we will get 8-9 games. Mainly due to Ant

Maybe not in hype, but he does in winning games. Yes, these networks want hype, but they also want to ensure a good product. Ant takes care of the entertainment value, Gobert brings the winning.

That's what Rudy is all about.

Do we include the Wolves 16-0 2023 Playoff to Champion run in our guess at national games?

Shrink I am as optimistic as the next guy. But I think we need to be fair to the rest of the West and the best of the East. It will more likely be 16-1 ;) ;) ;)

Apparently, we have a rival and we will be taking part in rivalry week.

Read on Twitter

We know we have zero national games during opening week.

A few more than I expected. Hopefully they flex us into more if we are doing well.
