The top 5 protected 29 wouldn’t convey if we had the worst record, and is unlikely to convey if we had the 2nd or 3rd worst record. If the pick converts to seconds then it is much less valuable. The 28 unprotected pick swap is worth more than 2 seconds. As for player value, even if LM is equal to V8 (I think he is more valuable,) the 14 pick is way more valuable than 22 pick. Sexton is a young player with potential and Beasley and Beverly are not. Overall they paid more than we did.

Pretty comparable but I like the Wolves just for the sake that adding Gobert (2 bigs) is bold but fills such a critical need for this team, and ultimately, could trigger DLo’s game which obviously helps ANT and KAT. The Utah/Cle trade is a little safer version and more moderate exchange for both teams.

Shrink - Kessler was pick 22 rather than 19. Missing Bolmaro from the deal.
They look pretty comparable. I think the Cleveland package was slightly better though. I don't think they will quite be as good a team as us, so all of their picks will probably be a little stronger. Sexton and Markannen were both top 10 picks who are still under 25 with a few years of development under their belts.

Sexton, Markannen, and 2022 pick 14 are all better than the Wolves package of Beasley, Vando, and pick 22. There is the extra FRP in our package, but likely 5 or 6 picks lower each year than the Cleveland offer.

Re: Which Utah Package was Worth More?
Mitchell package slightly better due to the quality of player they got coming back in my opinion.
Picks are all well and good, but when receiving them from teams who will theoretically be competitive for some time, their outcomes are a lot more murky. Sexton, for all his health issues, is a decent prospect and Markannen has displayed that he's an effective starter in this league who's still quite young.
We gave up more pick capital but I think Cleveland easily gave up the better playing talent.

I think they’re pretty even. I’m not a huge Sexton guy and I think the 23 has more value than the other picks simply because it’s sooner.
Not sure we will convey the 29 but I assume we probably will. Good for us to get some protections on it though.

Mitchell also is 4 years younger and owed $34.8M less over the next four years. I have Gobert as at least a slightly more valuable NBA player, but both are very good. The age and contract may have been a deciding factor in Utah wanting a similar but slightly better deal for Mitchell.
