Clarkson is very upset. I think this is the nail in the coffin that he’s not coming back to Utah who will be rebuilding for years to come.

I'm stoked for Conley! Finally a true PG after Rubio left

He can run an offense and provide spacing. Seems like exactly what this team will need when Towns is back.

Its not unsong hero allstar Grizz Conley, but I allways liked this guy alot, a true PG, so will be very nice to see all around great guy like this in Wolves. Even if its for a season or two as a place holder.

They won't be rebuilding "for years to come". They have an all-star talent in Lauri, a young big man who is already a Top 20 center in Kessler and tons of picks/cap space to work with.

I expect them to make a big splash this off-season. Ainge didn't come there to be bad.

I do think Clarkson is gone.

Conley is a player who ANT is going to absolutely blossom next to for the next 16-months.

Basic Statistical Profile:

Mike Conley 2023 [Age 35 season]: 84th percentile EPM [88th percentile Offensive EPM], +1.3 RAPTOR [+2.5 O-RAPTOR], +0.8 OBPM, 10.7/2.7/7.7 splits on 40.8/36.2/81.3 splits.

At first glance, Conley is still having a good-to-great impact offensively in a more limited role while his defense has clearly not been up to par. I think there are a few reasons for this, first being the Utah Jazz as a whole have no good defenders outside of Walker Kessler and Jared Vanderbilt. When a team is rolling out Sexton, Clarkson, Markkanen, Olynyk and Beasley big minutes, the team is going to be poor defensively, which will reflect in a negative light for most players as impact stats attempt to paint everyone except with clear positives [Kessler and Vanderbilt] as negatives. Conley isn't as bad as his defensive metrics appear [in a vacuum] but also don't expect 2015 Conley to be defending on the court.

Conley provides stability and leadership as a Point Guard which the Wolves have sorely--desperately missed since Rubio, but unlike Rubio, Conley is a shooting threat both on and off-ball in catch-and-shoot situations. Conley is a veteran, has tons of playoff experience and understand the role of the regular season is to tune for the post-season. I have some additional data which is going to--hopefully--help support Conley as not being washed.

Conley currently has a Free Throw Rate [Rate at which your field goal attempts lead to free throws] of 25.6%. This isn't intrinsically good, but when looking at Conley, it is as it is his highest mark of the past 4 seasons. This is important because when guards start to age and slow down, typically they can no longer get to the rim and their free throws plummet.
Chris Paul's age 35 season was his first season in Phoenix. I expect Conley to be in the vicinity [clearly worse] than that version of Chris Paul with a hope Conley can manage to stay healthy.

How does he compare with Chris Paul? Probably a lesser talent, but at least he stays on the floor (less injured)?

Unlike Russell, Conley never needs isolation possessions, which will be important in maintaining Edwards’ leap once Towns gets back. Conley’s 16.8 usage rate is drastically lower than Russell’s 22.7 mark, largely due to taking five shots fewer per game. Conley keeps the offense flowing with quick decisions and doesn’t stop to survey all that often. He’s been a consistent 38 to 39 percent 3-point shooter over the last eight years of his career. He’s older than Russell, but is a more well-rounded player who fits the scheme and the talent around him better.

Sounds like a Chris Finch type of PG. The grown up version of MacLaughlin?

This is crazy to think. Don't we lead the league or close in technical fouls? Maybe Conley gets Ant and especially Kat to stop complaining after every call.

Conley is a pro. The younger guys on your roster can learn alot from him.
I know it doesn't matter to most fans but he's also just a very nice person.
