This has got to be the most talented team the Wolves have ever put together, right?

I actually think this squad is the best starting 5 in the West as well, am I thinking crazy?

It is the most talented IMO. 2004 KG/Cassell was great. It was not a big 3. Spreewell nowhere close to making it a big 3. This years team has a big 3 With KAT/Ant/Gobert and McDaniels is better than Spreewell.

Definitly. Ant/KAT/MCD/Rudy/Mike are really great players. ANT, KAT are star level, MCD very promising. If Rudy is back to his jazz level ( top player), Mike beeing of of the smartest PG in the league ( make other better), we can dream big. Bench is great as well. I'm veri optimistic for the upcoming season. We need a bit of luck ( injuries) but we may finally make a run.

Kyle Anderson is better than Latrell Spreewell was. Dude was absolutely terrible, him starting over Wally Szczerbiak was awful.

I can say that it is definitely the best since KG left.

It is, but that's partially a product of how deep the talent pool has become in the NBA.

Even during the Garnett years, our starting lineup had weak spots. Even some of the best teams in the league had weak starters 25-30 years ago.

I think the top-end talent level has stayed pretty steady across the NBA landscape through the different eras. The key difference between eras comes in the depth.

For me the differential point is Ant, he is a special player which can make this team the best of the Wolves history.

Don't remember exactly the year, but the 2012 or 2013 roster was a solid one, one that underperformed so badly but very talented one.

I mean the year of Rubio, Roy, Ak, Love, Pek with Barea, Martin or Shved from the bench.

Without a doubt, on paper, this is the best Wolves team ever.

Now they need everybody including the coaches to be better this year and we could go a long, long way.

I'll still role with the '03-'04 team. You had KG in his prime along with Wally who got injured but was also a former all-star player the season or two prior(You can argue if he should or shouldn't have been) plus Cassell and Spreewell who might have been on the tail ends of their primes but where still high caliber starters and Cassell if I remember right actual made the all-star team in '03 for us.

Then after that we had roleplayers like Hassell,Hoiberg,Hudson,Madsen,Trent and who close to a draft bust the Candy Man who actually was solid for us.

Cassell had his very best season his first year with us. If he stays healthy we win the NBA title. I have zero question of that.

Most talented roster, probably.

The 03-04 team had career peak KG and a career year from Cassell. Solid years from former all stars Sprewell and Wally.
And hit the jackpot on roleplayers that year with Hassell, Ervin Johnson, and Fred Hoiberg.
That's a pretty solid top 7, if Cassell hadn't been injured and we had a decent backup PG, title team.

It's been so long, its starting to fade from memory just how dominant prime KG was on both ends of the floor though.
How do you quantify that? It's like if KAT and Gobert were one player and you got KAT's offense with Gobert's defense.
Plus that player can also guard 5 positions.

Different eras, different rules. More depth and shooting skill across the league now.
Game 7 vs sacramento in 04 was 83-80 and both teams scored 100 points only once in the series.

Except now Gobert can guard 5 positions.

That team might even be better today.

Can you imagine Wally (career 41%) taking 10 3s per game instead of 2?
Hoiberg (career 40%) taking 6-8 instead of 3?

And you can't tell me that if KG came up in a time where the 3 was emphasized, he wouldn't have been in the mid-high 30s at least. He was too good of a jump shooter and from the line to not be.

True.

And can you imagine the '23-24 team in the '03-04 era?
Conley, Ant, and Jaden on the perimeter and Kat and Gobert in the paint?
Under those rules, they might hold the other team under 50 points lol.

Time will tell, it's going to be very hard to top 03-04 in talent and success. At the start of last season quite a few people thought we had one of our most talented teams and were so mad we didn't lock down Nowell with a huge contract, thinking we will never be able to afford him.
