Good Luck to you.

Post#1 » by urinesane » Sat Jul 15, 2023 10:38 pm

I've realized that posting on this board (and believe it or not, reading much more than I post) is not really adding much if any value to my enjoyment of this franchise.

Don't get me wrong, there are some posters here that I enjoy, and I would think at this point they know who they are (and who definitely aren't). This wave of people clamoring to trade away a franchise player when they are THIS close to winning more than losing on a consistent basis? Do you forget who the f*ck you've been watching all these years?

In March of 2021, this team became THE WORST FRANCHISE IN THE HISTORY OF MAJOR NORTH AMERICAN SPORTS when it comes to winning percentage all-time. https://www.axios.com/2021/03/03/minnesota-timberwolves-worst-franchise-sports

Let me repeat that, but in a different way... WE ARE FANS OF THE WORST FRANCHISE NOT JUST IN NBA HISTORY, BUT IN THE HISTORY OF MAJOR SPORTS ON THIS CONTINENT.

The people that are flatout expecting 50 wins (or it being a failure if they don't) need to WAKE UP.

It's our faults for being fans of this franchise in spite of how terrible they've been for so long. It's your fault if you expect something else of them and are disappointed when they don't become that.

The fact that we've stuck with this team for so long says more about us than the franchise imo. Seriously, what the f*ck is wrong with us?

Not only do we passionately follow the worst franchise in sports, but we come here and we argue against one another about it. About it's future and different players, as if they are just chess pieces on a board and not human beings. Meanwhile being historically terrible and unsuccessful, which in turn makes our time spent watching their games less valuable than nearly every other franchise in major sports... then we come here and try to convince each other of things (and we never do).

It's a waste of my time and it's a waste of your time. If you value your time so little that you don't believe that to be true, I am truly sorry for your current lack of self-worth.

That being said, this sh*t is finally getting good. Smart people in the front office and (if healthy) a f*cking stacked roster. It's finally starting to be not terrible to be a Wolves fan and borderline fun. I will definitely be watching when they figure it out.

I will not be posting here again though. I need to value my time more and posting on this forum is a case of the juice no longer being worth the squeeze to me.

I hereby officially retire from this forum. My pension forms will be mailed to Calinks soon.

Thanks to those that helped make it fun, to those that didn't, I hope you find whatever the hell it is you're looking for.

Good Luck to you.

weird post
its July, there isn't much to talk about

i'm not in the trade-KAT camp, but i'm still going to post about it like I did with the Begley-Lowe discussion because its July and its at least an interesting discussion about how players of the team I follow are viewed, how the team can change or improve

You're definitely overreacting. Towns is a good player and could probably be the 2nd best player on a championship team... but he's cracked the top 20 in RAPTOR once. He's a nice player but not an untradable one like a Luka, Giannis, Jokic, etc.

I hate to see you go but it's absolutely a wise and mature thing to evaluate a hobby and see if it brings any value to you or not. When a hobby stops being fun, it's probably time to hang it up. If you decide to come back feel free to do so anytime, if the team does start winning I think the mood will change around here drastically.

To be fair, two of the most moody seasons around here were arguably 2016-17 and 2022-23....

Don't take those trade proposals too seriously. It is not like Connelly going to make the trade according to a few realgm opinions. I don't know what's the motivation behind some of those Towns' salary dumps. Maybe just to get a reaction from you.

Take the time. This is just entertainment and if the opinions bother you it’s not worth getting upset over. Sports is like life in that we all want same end goal but lot of ideas on how to get there. I know there’s been posters that I say WTF and then other times say totally agree.

I sympathize with your position; I've done similar "pull-backs" in the past (though not publicly). If you're not enjoying doing something with what is ostensibly your free time/enjoyment time, pulling back is not a bad idea - after all, we only get so much time on this earth, and why spend it doing something that makes you unhappy? You may find that there is something that works better for you in your life, and if there is, more power to you.

But I feel I'd be leaving something out if I didn't mention that a) breaking habits is hard, and there's likely to be a moment in the future where you hear Wolves news and want to log in and talk about it/hear about it from other folks, and b) this board gets a lot more manageable when you use the "add foes" option judiciously. Some people are just ****-flingers and don't deserve any kind of foothold in your life. 8-) .

Personally I've found this place one of the better options for sharing the collective madness of being a Wolves fan, mostly because the mods do a good job of straddling the line between over- and under-management. At any rate, do what you must; if you decide to come back, I personally won't hold it against you (not that you were asking, obviously). I've always thought you had valuable things to say.

This is one hell of a Cartman ("screw you guys, I'm going home") because some posters want to trade Kat. Or because some posters hold the team accountable regardless of past performance. We don't give them a pass for being passably good just because we're used to them being horribly bad. We expect 30+ million dollar players to perform like 30+ million dollar plays, game in and game out. We see the talent and expect the results. ****, last season, without the 30+ million dollar elephant in the room, we should have won at least four or five more games against inferior opponents. Are we supposed to just accept the result of last season because of what we have endured in the past? I say hell NO. We should and we will expect better. We expect to win games we should win. We possibly believe in the team more because to expect such things means we believe it to be possible.

This idea of being okay with just a passable grade is liken to that of a captor and the captured. Stockholm syndrome.
urinesane has Timberwolves Stockholm syndrome.

I get it. Our team and franchise gets absolutely hammered on the General boards. You come to our own forum hoping there's a more positive vibe from Wolves fans. Nope...not really happening with the exception of a few that prefer a positive approach.

If we end up trading KAT for cap relief and crappy future picks as some on here are pining for, they'll be the same "fans" blasting the team for trading him when he excels with his new team.

Take a break and toilet paper battletrigger's house.
