Wolves back! ***Pre-Season Game 1 Thread Wolves vs Mavs Thursday 11CST***

Post#1 » by Calinks » Tue Oct 3, 2023 1:05 am

The NBA season is back and the Wolves are already in action this week. The fist game will be an early one, Thursday at 11 a.m. central to be sure to set the DVR's if you hope to catch this one but can't do it live.

Level 10 here.

If we can get that late in the clock lob down, I think it will make everything easier and really unlock our offense.

On defense, we look excellent.

Things we can control …
1. Defense
2. Rebounding O/D
3. Asst:TO

If we cannot achieve a high level of success in these 3 categories, we will be a mere bubble team again.

Plus maturity. Don't argue with referees, execute, keep composure, don't let emotion you down.

I think that alone would be huge. For Towns, I think it takes him up a level. The whole team was really immature though, we need to take games more seriously. We rarely looked like we knew what we were doing. Fix that and that's like 5 more wins easy.

So get more mature and we go from 60 to 65 wins or more. I like it. :D

I'm looking forward to the new audio partnership with iHeart Radio. It sounds like all games will be available to listen to everywhere by everyone.

Any news on what the 24/7 Wolves station will be? I'm very curious, are they going to pay people like Dane Moore to play re-runs of their podcast on the station and other wolves content 24/7 or will it be all-new original content?

As of today, it consists of past KFAN interviews with Timberwolves pesonnel over the last year along with some game replays. I know they've played the Thunder play-in game a few times.

At the moment, they are replaying an interview of Micah Nori from Paul Allen's show.

I’m really curious to see what all is tried in the preseason and what is actually used going forward in terms of “adding structure”.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Here is some positivity to get the season started: In the final 19 games of last season, Wolves only had 3 bad losses (Phil, LAL, and POR). LAL games was only due to Davis' stellar rolling on the floor defense (I need to try that in my next pickup game :D ) and even to POR was only two points. I say that is a very good 19 game stretch and could had easily pick up 4 more wins to end with a 15-4 run.

That's the whole point. Mike speak about last season in the PO itw an again at media day. Pay more attention to small things, look opponent video more than film or play on line. Difference to become a contender are on details. I have only 2 things who worry me :
Rudy level of performance and the team immaturity. the level of mistake we make at rebounding or TO at crutch time was too much,

One thing that’s been illustrated from the Denver series is double high screens with Rudy and KAT for Edwards.

We don’t even need a ton of structure. Just some different sets we can vary within.

I don't think the double screen will be a stable this year. I feel like they used it because they can't figure out spacing. I think if Ant improves his interior passing skill, see the double team better, and know how to draw defenders with dribble is a better way to go.

I think you mean “staple” (I didn’t claim it would be a staple).

Have you heard Finch talk about that in any of the podcasts / interviews he’s given during the off-season? He spoke about that set specifically as a structure that they would use. That’s why I brought it up. Just passing along information from Finch’s mouth to realgm’s ears.
