Summer league 2024 thread

Post#1 » by winforlose » Thu Jun 27, 2024 6:15 am

I know it is early, but can anyone remember a season with more summer league hype. I mean we are coming off a WCF appearance and have 5 or more players who will be featured, (including the 8th overall pick and possible PG of the future, and TSJ who might compete for rotation minutes in a very interesting year.) Minott, Miller, and Clark have a lot to prove, Moore probably won’t be on the team, but if he is that would be interesting, and we may well have a high 2nd to add. I am very curious what this team looks like in Vegas :)

We might have the most exciting MIN summer league team ever:

Miller-Minott-Shannon-Moore-Dillingham

Draft Mogbo and win that Summer League!

Replace Moore with Clark and we agree. I don’t know anything about Mogbo so I will take your word for it.

Mogbo-Miller-Minott-Shannon-Clark-Dillingham!!!

P.S. Mogbo is an athletic, mobile, undersized big with passing skills.

No reason Moore should be taking away minutes from potential NBA players.

We should send him to China.

SL is from July 12th to July 22nd this year. I'll be vacationing in Minnesota from July 11th to July 18th. Doesn’t leave much window for me to attend SL this year.

I know, but for all I know Edwards might be hurt. It was an honest question asking for news about him.

It feels like we (Wolves fans) always think the Summer League team is going to be stacked, and then it under-performs. Other than the JMac season where the team went deep, when else has it lived up to the billing? Based off the times Minott and Miller played in the NBA, they seemed more interested in getting their own than playing winning basketball. Being older guys - or at least more veteran guys - in terms of Summer League, I could see them jacking up even more shots thinking that is how they get NBA minutes. At some level that's human nature in basketball, despite what your coaching may be asking you to do. Regardless, hopefully the majority of their games will be televised.

If Miller shows up does that exnay a SloMo signing? This is an exciting group. The future is now...and in the future.

Slomo can turn into 10 million of trade value give or take his exact contract amount. That ain’t nothing for a second apron team. If you have bird rights you have value, don’t let that go to waste.

Obvious they will add a few more guys....but ..

PG - Dillingham, Nix
SG - Shannon, Clark
SF - Minott,Wahl
PF - Miller, Ledee
C. - Edwards

Does this look right so far?

In addition to the cap/CBA implications (which I don't know or understand), I believe free agency begins well before Summer League; so Miller's performance likely wouldn't have any impact on SloMo's signing.
