Isn't there a contract known as a Gupta special. It's a shame to lose the architect of those.

Yeah, it’s the same as a Hinkie Special. Gupta was in PHI at the time, but when he came to MIN, some local reporters tried to call Hinkie Specials “Gupta Specials.”

Basically it’s a four year minimum deal, each year has a team option. Sometimes the team guarantees a little more of the salary in Year 1 or 2, to get these young, poor, prospects to sign. It’s basically leveraged to give teams multi-year control of players on the edge of the NBA, hoping they make good. The Wolves gave one to Naz, after he went undrafted but then looked so good in summer league. Minott and Leonard Miller are also on the same deals.
