Preseason thread

No Ant, no Randle, no AD, no Bron. Hopefully we get generous minutes for RD, TSJ, Minott, Miller, and Clark.

Yeah, we have so much shooting, so much spacing. Our roster is going to be so fking good this year with the absolute grit and bully-games of ANT/Randle, Gobert anchoring a GOAT level defense and 4 shooters on the court for most of the game [except for start and potentially end].

The Good:

1) Shooting, holy smokes. We are going to have like 8-9 legitimate shooters on our roster [ANT, Dilly, Conley, McDaniels, NAW, Reid, Ingles, Donte] with Randle/Garza/KBD/TSJ as question marks.

2) Depth. Our depth is incredible. This likely means Dilly will be in the G-League to start because NAW looks to be super comfortable handling and making decisions at this point in the Finchy offense. Shame we can't re-sign him mid-season since his salary is so low [No way he re-signs for 140% of 4.3 Million].

3) Minott. He has never been this comfortable [I know it is pre-season]. He looks bigger and more fluid. His birthday is on/around Thanksgiving [Still just 21 years old] but he is finally looking like everything is clicking. We drafted him as a project and this project is getting an A.

4) TSJ. Makes sense given his age, but he plays under control and is dynamic in the open court, has good size and is a defensive +. He needs to hit the corner 3 @ 40% to stay on the court in big minutes, but I could see him really bolstering our rotation and truly giving us 9-10 guys we trust come April.

The Bad: **** being negative. Basketball is back.

The hit rate on 2nd round picks, even early ones, is really low. No reason to be let down by someone who had like 15-20% of success.

I was high on him though but who knows maybe the lights will go on soon like Minott (hopefully he keeps this up)

Dillingham looked promising. One thing I hope we can change around this year is our ability to get to the line. With Randle's bully ball and hopefully, Ant finally getting calls this season with his superstar status, I would love to see us living at the line this season and cashing in big. No more wars with the refs.

Minott, Garza, and Dilly all looked great on offense. Minott was guarding Dlo and Reaves and also had 8 boards, 1 assist (should have been more,) 5 stocks, and a team high +18. Minott looked legit tonight. It is early and exhibition, but that is a serious performance. Dilly had some defensive lapses and struggled at the rim, but his sharp shooting is promising. Garza is probably gonna get some minutes until his defense puts him at C3. Until then it should be fun.

TSJ had a bad game. I think it was nerves. His defense was good, but everything else was not. Clark underwhelmed, but had some nice defensive moments. I would cut Edwards from his two way and get someone better. Miller needs some mentoring. All in all I love that we played no starters in the 2nd half and still dominated in a game where several Lakers starters did play big minutes.

Love what I saw from Dillingham and Minott tonight..

If they can give solid contributions off the bench, a Rob/Naw/Donte/Minott/Naz bench unit will feed families

Some thoughts on first preseason game:
- The guys who are going to be in the top 8 of the rotation looked good
- I'm not sure how much Ingles has left, he is a smart player whose athletic ability is almost gone
- Dillingham and Minott seem like the clear 10-11 in the rotation (may end up 9-10 ahead of Ingles a lot of nights)
- Dozier did little to win a roster spot
- I think Garza and Shannon are ready to play spot rotation minutes, but opportunities are likely to be scarce
- My guess is Shannon, Miller, Nix, and Clark spend time in the G-League
- I'm not sure Jesse Edwards keeps the last two-way spot

Loved seeing that! Didn't even know it was Clark until after the play. I like his game, wasn't expecting anything at all from him.

Loved Minott, Rob, DDV. All in all, I think this is the best Wolves roster ever. Good job, TC!
