Round 1: LAL

Post#1 » by Loaf_of_bread » Sun Apr 13, 2025 11:48 pm

Seems like there are quite a bit of takes on the board in terms of how we gameplan to beat this team.

We all know there are takes that the nba will rig this series in favor of LAL. If one wants to further point that out, go for it, but this thread is meant moreso as how the timberwolves can take advantage of their players and specific abilities against the Lakers in a 7 game series.

I will start with a controversial idea of starting jaylen over Mike to guard luka.

Other thought i have is that Julius needs to step it up or get benched and Naz gets his minutes.

And Naz needs to really step up.

There is no team that I want to beat more.

There is no team that I want to lose to less.

Rudy needs to **** dominate inside. Jaden and Naz need to wake up from their slumps.

I wonder if Randle will continue his previous post-season play.

I recall Stephen A. Smith absolutely going off on him last year:

There is only two games separate #3 seed and #8 seed in the western conference. So any team that we play is about the same. In contrast, there is 11 games separation between #3 and #8.

There is no other team in the NBA that I would enjoy beating more than the Lakers.

This series could do a lot to impact Gobert's legacy, whether positively or negatively. On both sides of the ball.

I think the other significant X factor will be Donte. This probably won't be a Mike series, so Donte will likely get a lot of run. He has the intensity to really make an impact.

Over the last 10 games, Gobert is averaging 14.5 rebounds and 18 points per game. If he could continue the hot streak, we have a very good chance.

Interesting coaching match up. Finch was pretty damn good last year in his strategy. Not going to hold the mavs series against him

In the other hand reddick could come up with something brilliant.

I'll go wolves in 6. Rudy and Ant dominate. Luka wins a game by himself. Lakers get a cheap ref win.

Will be a tough one. We have to make Luka and JLB work as hard as possible. Our Second unit is much better than their. NAZ, Donte an Clark will be very important. Rudy should also dominate inside.

Looking forward to getting revenge on Luka. Need to make the Lakers defend, especially LeBron and Luka.

Our bigs need to dominate. If Randle wants one last payday this series is a huge for him getting a contract. Naz to an extent also.

Gonna love seeing Ant compete against Lbj and Luka.

I don't see how we can start or play Conley, unless Gabe Vincent is on the floor. Any other matchup he's getting hunted against much bigger players.

When he’s played against teams without a good center, he has been tremendous.

The Lakers don’t have a good center either, so I expect a big series.

If people think that Conley isn't going to play a lot then they haven't watched Finch

I don’t think Mike Conley should start in this series, unfortunately.

Mike will play no doubt as he is our best Playmaker by far. But he will be hunted in defense as size difference will be huge. I would start DDV and put Mike against second unit where he can be important feeding NAZ and others. Hope he also shoot 3 at 50% like he did last 2 months. But this series is not for him i agree, too small against Lakers guards.
