We could certainly lose this game. The Blazers are a young team and they will go out and play hard defense on you. Playing the bad teams early, before they start a midseason tank, isn’t always the best way to start the season.

I still believe MIN will win, if they rely on their continuity and force POR into mistakes. I don’t want to see this be a close game going into the fourth, giving the Blazers and their fans hope.

Yeah I agree. I think we could lose this game, our offense struggles against good defence's... and i think Blazer could be top 10-5 based off the end of last season plus Holiday now.

Hoping Ant shoulders a massive offensive game and we win.

I think for a good platform for the season we need to come out of these first 20 games 15-5 ish.

I think past versions of this team would lose this game. I think that will fuel them to a win.

Portland only scored over 107 points in a game once in last year's series, which was mostly in our early-season funk (3 games in the season's first 12). You could argue they have even less offensive firepower to begin this season.

I don't think it will be an easy win. They will make us work for it. But I think we will win.

I certainly thought it was interesting Melo talked about how he likes Julius, but obviously not enough to think he's a Robin.

Edwards (back) participated in Wednesday's morning shootaround, Chris Hine of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Ant plays through just about everything. I really doubt he's going to miss the opener. Of course I have been wrong before.

I agree. I think he pushed through this for the opener

I've thought for a while that starting Donte was the right move, I just didn't think there was much chance Finch would do it. One of the main reasons I doubted the move was because it makes it harder to find minutes for Dillingham.

DDV at PG is terrible! It's a waste of his skill set.

Alright, so....

Donte / Ant / Jaden / Julius / Rudy

My guess for the rest of the lineup tonight is Naz, Mike, TJ, and.....Joan. Rob might get the 0.5 (basically a first-half stint)

Why? With this Portland matchup, I don't think Jaylen's defense is as needed. He's the first one out of the running. That leaves Rob and Joan. Portland runs pretty big. Do you try to match up with them or do you try to get them to match up with you? Normally I would say the latter, but I just don't think Rob is going to get Portland to change how they play, so that would just leave him outmatched. Joan can match up with Portland's size. No one out there would overpower him on offense either, which is the biggest thing I want to avoid this season.

I think they have to be smart with his minutes, which is something Houston found out the hard way last night. Teams will hunt him with bigger, more physical guards.

I think next game we could see Rob get a bigger role, especially if the Lakers roll Gabe Vincent out there for 28 minutes again.

And for anyone who is curious (no one, I'm sure), this makes me more excited for my fantasy pickup of TJ Shannon this morning. Getting Donte into the main lineup should open up more usage and scoring opportunities for Shannon on the second unit. I'm not too worried about Mike either. I mainly added him for assists and 3-pointers. I don't think much will change for him other than coming off the bench, so he should still get similar opportunities.
