Wolves on a road to nowhere
Time to get real 2 games in … this is what you call going through the motions … trying to put lipstick on a pig.

Re: Wolves on a road to nowhere
This is some first class doom and gloom.
I mean, team still has a top 6’ish player in all NBA who just turned 24. Some young 3rd and 4th fiddle type players.
Roster has some construction flaws for sure. But not worthy of a roadtrip to nowhere.

Rod Stewart was inspired to write Maggie May by his first sexual experience. He met an older lady at a music festival. They had Sex and Rod said he lasted 30 seconds tops. The lady was not impressed.

the only alarming thing is that the Wolves have the worst PG rotation of any "good" team, but that's been the case for like 3-4 years

Re: Wolves on a road to nowhere
idk on one hand, I try to be positive because it's a long season. I think it was the Boston year they lost in the finals to the Dubs where they were under .500 at like the midpoint of the season. But then it's like, you guys aren't new. It's the same coach for years and this core has been together for a good amount of time now. Why do you need a bunch of games again to warm up and figure everything out? I'm thinking with the rapid deterioration of Rudy and Mike, they're losing high-floor on-court focus and professionalism faster than the younger guys are developing it. The core has tons of talent, but who do you look at these days and think "oh man, that guy really understands and processes the game at a high level." ? 2 seasons ago, we had it to spare with still-good Rudy and Mike, then NAW and SloMo, and it manifested itself into an alltime defense. Now with SloMo and NAW long gone and Rudy and Mike hanging by a thread, it's in shambles.
But all that said, we have to respect that they did in fact pull a WCF run out of their asses in back to back seasons. And both times, they went into that first round looking like they were gonna be a victim, and then trounced the **** out of their opponents.

also, I fully support Dewey's angry tirade. We've been pouring our hearts and soul and emotion into this franchise for decades. Where's our ROI - is a dominant 79-3 season and sweeping through the playoffs really that much to ask? I don't think it is.

Re: Wolves on a road to nowhere
To be clear, I had to stop watching last night at halftime....so it sounds like I missed the worst of it. But I am still trying to hold out hope and trusting the process. For whatever reason, this team always goes through early-season struggles. I am still trying to hold out hope that it will work out in the end. But I do understand the frustration, even if I am not all of the way there with you.

What is our identity? When a team, media, opposing fan base hear “MN Timberwolves” what do they think?
Generally speaking, we don’t stand for much of anything. Not trying to be mean, but it’s just a random identity.

My personal opinion and this will be the last time I will post in this thread is we don't need a thread for the sole purpose of how much we suck. We can talk about that in the existing threads.

Great thread title. Makes me think of the Talking Heads song. And sadly, it fits the ball club.

There are worse teams in the NBA that fits the description - PHX, MIL, CHI, WAS, and MEM. Then there is also The Long And Winding Road for BKN, CHA, UTA, and DET.

Re: Wolves on a road to nowhere
Wow this thread.
Let’s trade Edwards to Jazz for Bailey and all Wolves 1sts back plus plus.
Let’s trade McDaniels to Kings for DDR and Wolves 1st back.
Let’s trade Gobert, Randle and Reid to highest bidders!
Start the tank for a decade.
Green font.

Re: Wolves on a road to nowhere
My favorite Wolves quote from a couple years ago was that at the end of the season the Wolves had 56 wins and 26 existential crisis.
It’s one loss and we’re two games in. Maybe let’s pump the brakes on this a bit.

Nowhere is an interesting concept. The road is an adventure. I think the Wolves are far too ethical to be seen as true contenders. I'm just going to try to enjoy the ride.

Re: Wolves on a road to nowhere
Road to nowhere is my kind of adventurous trip. Where's the trill to be on the road to somewhere? You know where, and that in itself is boring. Limits your imagination.
But to nowhere? Man, the possibilities are endless!

Too ethical, have you forgotten Joe Smith and a owner that could juice up the entire team? We just don't have endorsement deals because we are in a small market

Our star player is not an SGA or Luka level free throw merchant. Joe Smith has no bearing on the current level of team ethics.
