Would you guys do this?

Marko Jaric and Gerald Green

for

Banks, Pike, and Tucker.

I think both sides wouldn't love this trade, which is why I think it makes sense.

Why for PHX: Jaric would actually get minutes behind Nash, he excels in the open court, and is a pretty good shooter. He can also play 1-3 so he fits D'Antoni's system better than Banks. Gerald Green can actually shoot, so he may crack D'Antoni's 8 man rotation.

Why for Minny: Banks actually played pretty well for you guys a couple years ago, and it saves you roughly 2 million a year over the next 4 years. Pike is an expiring, and Tucker would probably get just as much time as Green would in Minny.

Thoughts?

1. I'm on the fence. Jaric is far more useful and productive than Banks, and while Banks is a couple mil cheaper, both of those deals run 4 years. Tucker isn't necessarily a great fit.

2. If MIN liked your deal, they might push for these simultaneous deals:

Green-for-PHO TPE $1.44 TPE
Jaric-for-Banks+Tucker

This doesn't violate MIN's roster size, and they don't have to pay the rest of an unnecessary Piatkowski this season. However, Sarver might say "no" simply because he wants to move Piatkowski's money over the lux. Perhaps MIN would require cash to buy out Doleac.

3. Probably the best deal for both concerned is doing the deal in #2, then swapping Tucker with Piatkowski, and including a top-20 protected future pick. PHO can still deal a future pick as long as it has "a" 1st rounder, and in this case, they have ATL's. This deal maintains MIN's roster, saves PHO the most money under the lux.

4. And of course, the ATL pick is a prize MIN would love. If PHO wanted to go for it, I'd suggest MIN including Gomes, and PHO upping the protected first to the ATL pick. This gives your team the most productive talent and also moves Banks.

5. I've always maaintained Jaric would be a nice fit on the Suns. He works best without the ball in his hands (good for Nash), but can still back up the position. He likes to pass (another good thing for the Suns), get steals, and he has just goodenough handles to get to the rim in the open court. He's also flexibile, so he can back-up a lot of positions on PHO's shallow bench.

Good idea

I've always had an issue with Banks ever since he left, got a contract, and started sucking. Believe it or not, but i think he is one of few players that would be harder to move than Jaric, so seeing as the have the same length on their contract, we would have a less paid/less productive/harder to move player that would be here the same amount of time.

I like Tucker, but i also like Green.

Shrink, how much money do we save by doing your deal?

I don't like the deal. I agree Banks may be harder to move than Jaric. I also am terribly afraid of having the four most undersized players in the league all on one team in Richard, Smith, Gomes and now Tucker-- add that to Telfair, McCants, and Foye who are also slightly undersized for their posistions and yeeeeeeeshhhhhh

Banks might be harder to move than Jaric, but his smaller deal does help 2009 cap space. It's something to consider. I'm biased on Tucker, but I think he's really, really good.

I like Tucker, im not a HUGE fan but i think the kid is good. I just dont like Banks on this team though. At least Jaric is a positive for the pups, Banks wont help much at all.

Heres a break down of the financial aspect of the OP trade:
Year.............. This year Next year ect ect ect
Marko Jaric $6,050,000 $6,575,000 $7,100,000 $7,625,000
Gerald Green $1,440,960

Total..............7,490,960 6,575,000 7,100,000 7,625,000

Marcus Banks $3,966,207 $4,260,000 $4,553,793 $4,847,586
Eric Piatkowski $1,219,590
Alando Tucker $931,920 $1,001,880 $1,071,720 $1,934,455

$2,901,682

Total.................6,117,717 5,261,880 5,625,513 6,782,041

2,901,682

Dolar Outcome +1,373,243 +1,313,120 +1,474,487 +842,959 -2,901,682

Now most of us know that the year that really matters is not next year, but the year after...we'd be saving the most in dollar amount on that exact year...We get a rookie who we could use he is a smart player and is not going to make problems if he doesn't get minutes...

As far as talent goes, we may be losing out a tiny bit assuming that Gerald Green becomes the player many think he can become....but who knows if he will become that player...and like I have been saying, McCants has a better attitude than GG and IMO has a higher ceiling....Tucker gives us another player with a defensive attitude, and I feel you can't have enough of those, Banks does the same...It'd be nice to have a couple PGs to back Foye up, right now we're short a PG we could use Banks as a third PG and maybe he could push for PT with Telfair....

I dig the deal...

I think if we could swing Banks to another team, I'd do it. Otherwise, no deal. I like Tucker and Pike's expiring though. I think Tucker would get more minutes here then Green anyways. I would do it if we could add more players and maybe swing Banks elsewhere and land an Arroyo or a Damon Stoudemire.

I dont realistically see us bein able to swing Banks to a 3rd team without other incentive. Does anyteam need a Point that badly? Cleveland maybe? I think its a serious stretch.

I have a small list of players I do not want as part of this rebuilding prospect. Banks is on that list. So I would have to decline.

Shrink, I am surprised you have not mentioned how well Foye and Jaric played together, yet Banks and Foye would not mix well. let along Banks/Bassy would not mix I think.

Bassy deserves a chance to be the back-up to Foye and if he leaves this summer we sign a vet. Banks is not the guy we want in that roll.
