DAL's 1st

This should be an easy one to acquire, if we want it.
DAL is over the lux, and this pick is guaranteed salary. I think adding current talent like Gomes or Smith makes sense to strengthen their bench, and not lock into more salary.
Alternately, this is one of those cases where we've seen a team in the past trade down on draft day. If we saw someone we liked, we could offer the MIN or MIA 2nd straight up, and probably get a "yes." Second round picks are not guaranteed money, and that could be very appealing to Dallas. Moreover, they could pick a Euro prospect, and stash him over there while they stick with their vet team.
Anyway, acquiring another 1st might allow us to combine picks in a trade that could help us move up in the draft.

Good thinking shrink. Im not so sure they would want Cookie as Brandon Bass (who im a fan of) has been playing great for them in the "undersized-PF" role. Although i think Cookie may be more polished offensively, Gomes may still be more appealing to them. They really dont have alot of depth at the 3, Devan George and Hassell who havent been really producing much at all for them.
Ryan Gomes for Maurice Ager + 1st rounder?
Ager's contract expires next year to give us that 09 cap we are seeking they get cheap production fast and we get a 1st they may not want.

If Dallas does end up with a pick more like 20-25, maybe it'd be worth both 2nds. If the Wolves don't go C with their pick, there will likely still be pleanty of size available in the early 20's (although some of it may fall to the 2nd round, and if Diop goes size is probably what Dallas is looking for...)

I could see there being interest in Gomes as 4ho5ive said. I like Gomes, but depending on who we draft and where everything else goes, he might not be back.
Maybe something like Gomes and Miami 2nd for the rights to Rashawn Terry and a 1st. I think Terry is in Europe playing so we wouldn't really be adding salary.

That seems fair to me, and it makes sense for both teams, but fans tend to fall in love with their draft picks, so I could see DAL saying no.
Me -- I like it a lot.

I loved Reyshawn Terry and I wanted us to nab him in the 2nd personally. I like that deal also, but Mavs may decline.

Why would that have any impact on it? Fans don't make trades.

Well, we don't either. It just shoots down the chance for discussion here.

Second worst Mav's 1st deal I've seen today.
Another DAL poster thought trading their first (which would be perhaps #26-#30?) should be a fair offer for MIN's 2010 1st (Top Ten protected #11-#30).

He woud get no minutes long term at the 1 with the Raptors, but having Moon, Kapono, Parker, Delfino, and Jaric is a deep wing rotation.
