Can this guy fit here at all, with Big Al here?

His trade price is in the toilet right now, and his age and draft position has him continue to pop up on my "acquire" list. CHI could also use some "win now" production which I'd be happy to provide if we had any use for the guy.

Thoughts?

Depends on what they'd want. Minimum would probably be TT for Buckner+Craigers - and it's possible they'd want even more than that.

Well now that Deng is out for "weeks" with a sore achilles, I don't see the Bulls making any trades to win now. They're probably already thinking about next year.

Chicago is only two games out of the playoffs; if anything, the Deng injury will probably raise their want to win now.

I dont like Ty Thomas at all. His work ethic is questionable, he has never seemed like a team player, he doesnt really have a position he plays well. He is athletic but IMO he will never be a good swingman and he will never be an elite PF either. His D is suspect also. Not the kind of young player I want to acquire.

I like TT, his work ethic has been in question, but he is a player that MNWI was crazy about this summer when he saw him working on his jumper and a possible switch to the 3 spot.

That being said, he would not really have a roll here and I would not want to spend anything of value for him at the moment.

I would take Cookie over Thomas any day of the week.

Speaking as a Bulls fan, Thomas is certainly a bit of a mystery, and no one's happy with him being taken over Aldridge, Gay, or Roy. But he's on a rook contract for two more years, and he's still got huge potential. If he can get his head on straight, he could easily be something like Kenyon Martin circa 2002, 16/8 with steals and blocks. And he's 21. So he's really young, could be really good, and he doesn't make much money--why would they trade him for Greg Buckner and Craig Smith?

Also, don't forget how deep the Bulls are:
SF: Deng Nocioni Thabo
PF: Joe Smith Tyrus
C: Ben Wallace Noah Gray
There's not enough playing time to go around as is. Craig Smith would be lucky to see 10 minutes per on this team.

You would be very pleasantly surprised with Craig Smith; were a Smith for TT trade to go down, Craig would probably get 20-25 minutes at PF on that team, easy.

Smith will be a backup if he stays with us. Thomas could start at the 3 for us and back up Al at the 4. I know Thomas is not a great fit for us but neither is Smith. I think that everyone here values Smith too much.

Who's to say Thomas would start at 3? He's full of potential, but he's not producing any better right now than Gomes or Brewer, or whoever you call the SF in our three guard Bassy/McCants/Jaric lineup.

He could start at 3. Brewer should come off the bench until he gets his shot down. Gomes has been playing great and should start. I would say Jaric plays sf.

My point was that Smith is no better a fit than Thomas would be. Thomas simply has more value.

TT can play the 4 with Al at the 5. The reason al at the 5 is bad is because Cookie cant guard people. TT has the athletic potential/ability to guard Most 3/4's and can get up and block some shots like woah.

I'm as high on Thomas as anyone, but he's not a 3. You'd have a better chance playing him at the 5 (assuming he bulks up some more) with his long arms and incredible shot blocking and leaping ability.

The "poor work ethic" rumors are totally unsubstantiated. What is undeniable is that he's been totally jerked around in Chiacago, and if he gets traded before getting consistent playing time to develop (he has been productive when given substantial consistent minutes), I expect him to blossom much like Tyson Chandler has after he got away from the Bull's mismanagement of young big men.

My bad, I forgot about how many inside scoring threats the Bulls
already have - Big Ben, Noah, Joe Smith and
Mr. "Thank God we traded away Aldridge" Tyrus Thomas.
They're absolutely loaded, Craigers would never see the floor there.


Fan of the Bulls and Pistons? During the baseball season, do you ever catch yourself staring at your Albert Pujols poster when you listen to Cubscast? Just wondering.

I think it'll be an interesting offseason if Craig doesn't get moved by the deadline. Craig, Gomes, and Toine' play the 4. They may be talked about as 3's but they are 4's. Back up 4's so long as Al is on this team. Can't keep all 3. To be honest, I'm warming to the idea of moving all but Toine'. Gomes and Craig could fetch us a decent deal, not to mention. We could resign Bassy and have plenty left over to give GG another shot.
