Look at our upcoming games.

We got: Nets, Bulls, Bulls, and the Clippers.

If we play like we have been lately, we could get some wins against these teams. Hopefully we can carry over this momentum.

4 for sure winnable games.

a 4 game winning streak would be huge.

this would be a #6 pick this year...

but no problem here if they win 4 games in a row, I'd rather install a winning mentality and win a few games more than "risking" on draft picks (though it's tough to pass up on the upcoming draft class)

Bulls are really sucky & injured lately. No scoring punch

You'll get at least one, maybe both

the top 3 picks are lotto. Luck is the key. I would rather develop a winning foundation with the guys we have and risk a lower % of a top pick then have a group of young guys that do not know how to win and are starting to get content with losing.

Plus, as everyone knows. I would rather have the 4th-6th pick and take Hibbert.

I agree completely with the first paragraph. I'm not totally sold on Hibbert yet but I'm not a hater, either. There certainly could be worse picks at #4-6.

Seriously, I'm at the point where I am certain that if we have the worst record we will surly not get the number 1 pick. We will probably fall to 3.

exactly. Which is ok, because we are not as bad as a team that needs a savoir. We have a core of young good players. We need a 5 and we need to polish those younger guys. Get back Foye, at a vet 5 and roll.

for me it's a 4-man draft. rose, jordan, beasley, mayo. If we pick fifth in this draft and miss out on one of those guys it will be laettner all over again.

Hibbert just looks too soft and slow to me to be a shotblocker and inside presence. He will not be as bad as Kandi, but watching him move around reminds me of Kandi.

I keep cheering for 1 point losses and "moral victories". having a top 4 pick and 2 top 4 picks in the second round of maybe the deepest draft ever is going to be awesome. this draft and their decisions on gomes, telfair, and smith will define this franchise for the next 10 years. Thank goodness we extended Al, could you imagine the distraction his contract situation would be with him playing so well and us with 8 wins?

Part of me wants to win ALL these games, so there can at least be hope with the team we have RIGHT NOW, and we don't have to totally depend on the draft for this franchise to be saved. I just need a glimpse of hope that our core can at least be a playoff team in the future(by winning games now) and the draft would just be the player that gets us over the hump in a few years.

I just assume he either did not see much of Kandi or not much of Hibbert. Kandi was very athletic, but was going against the same level of Talent Beasley did at the beginning of the year (former jr high girls players) (jk beasley lovers)

Hibbert is a much smarter player than kandi ever was, also Hibbert has shown the desire to be coached and to work hard. He was a project when he started at GT, but has grown into an incredibly talented and smart player. He is a shot blocker, but not the jump high throw it in the 4th row Kenyon Martin kind. He is one of the best college bigs I have seen at position defense. He gets his body to the place the offensive players wants to go and makes them work around a 7'2 frame.

Kandi's problem was that he did not have the desire to grow, did not have a high BBIQ either. He was drafted on potential. While I think Hibbert has some serious potential still, he is also drafted after being one of the best, if not the best 7ft in college basketball on it's best defensive team. GT defense is based on the fact that Hibbert runs around and uses his wingspan to frustrate defenders. Saying he is too slow is not valid for a legit 7ft center. We are used to seeing 6'11 220 high school dunkers, so a 7-2 280 center does look slow.

It's not like we have the worst record in the NBA or anything.

You have watched enough games to know that we are not as much of a mess as our record indicates. I will list reasons, but they are all things I assume you know so do not take it as belittling

-missing Foye. We would not be a good team if we were missing Al. Foye is #2, or 1B. That hurts. Take the top wing scorer and the pg from most teams and they will struggle

-most of our rotation players are new, thus chemistry takes time to develop.

-Al has shown to be something special. Shad/Gomes have shown they could be core guys. Bassy/Brewer/cookie could be factors also. Plus Foye is returning. We have a good set of young guys with good character.

We do not need to blow up, we need to develop with what we have now.

We don't need to blow up, we're already blown up. Hibbert is the pick if you're trying to make the playoffs. Beasley or Rose is the pick if you're trying to win championships.

Hibbert is the pick if you want to win games
Beasley is the pick if you want to have a 20ppg scorer on cops but never make the playoffs

See, I can make sensational comments too.

The ceiling for Hibbert is so much lower than some of the other players in this draft. I don't understand how you look at adding Hibbert to this team and think it leads to a contender. We're at least one franchise player away from contending and Hibbert isn't it and has no chance of ever becoming it. He makes us better immediately, that's true but it ruins our possibility of drafting a franchise player in the future.

I do not see Beasley has a franchise player. I also do not see Rose as much of an improvement over what we have now (depending on how Foye comes back) and with the huge hole at 5 it wont matter anyway. I also see Al (by way of kingly) make it known he wants to play with a 5. Hibbert improves the play of what we have. Beasley does not. Nor does he make us a contender by any means.

Al said (via kingly) that he wants help on the boards. Hibbert does not provide that. Beasley's leading the nation in rebounding and pulling down nearly twice as many as your favorite Hoya.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

There needs to be a lot of shuffling before we're a contender anyway, it makes no sense to fill needs. This team plus Hibbert isn't going to grow into a contender. There's just not enough talent.
I don't care what Al wants, how many championship teams has he built? And it's not like we have to worry about him leaving. We need to find elite talent and build around. Right now I'm not convinced we have any.
