Craig Smith for Spencer Hawes?

I wouldn't do it, but I understand the logic.

I promise you...if that was actually on the table, the deal would be done already. Hawes would work well with Jefferson. He is not really the defensive presence we need, but I would prefer him over POB and David Harrison. At least he is smart kid with well developed high and low post game. He has great footwork.

Craig would work well in Sactown with coming for both Moore and Miller. He would be able to get a solid 24-28 mpg.

I was a big Hawes fan draft time, but that was projecting him next to Kg, not next to Al. I think it would be a very bad fit next to Al.

That being said, he is still a very young kid with an high post offensive game as well as decent BBIQ.

He was considered a poor rebounder at draft time, and is getting 2 in 8min this year. But he is a big body that could box out the other big. Hawes has a very good sense for passing.

If we were not sure about Cookie's future with this team then I would make this move. This would allow us to bring in a vet 5 to work with Hawes. I like cookie, but I think it would be good for both teams.

I get that Rev. I may be over simplifying it a bit. I was thinking that his passing skills and the ability to hit the jumper out to 18ft would be handy (blount without the contract, bad hands and attitude). Low post = Al, High post = Hawes.

Anyways, if it was on the table, I think you would have to think about it.

On offense yes, on defense no. Let me explain

Hibbert has many of the same skills as Hawes, but is bigger, stronger and night and day difference on offense. I think that whatever center we get needs to be a guy that has a very good awareness of defense and is willing and able to put his body on the other team's 5. Hibbert does that, Hawes does not.

Hawes and P'Obryant are in the same boat as "potential" big's that "could" contribute. I think that the 5 spot on our team needs to be addressed by a legit player.

absolutely. I would love Hibbert or Hardin. I think if we do get Hibbert, he would need to trim up a little bit and become a little more mobile. I really think Hardin is the best fit, but obviously we can not draft him in the early lottery.

However, Hawes would make a great backup 4/5....that is why I think the deal would get done.

Better conditioning is a common thing for big men. I agree. I would be more interested in Hibbert having a professional strength coach for his upper body. He has great core strength and lower body strength, but the upper body needs to be developed.

Hardin is nice, but I do not see anything he does that Hibbert cannot provide.

Here is a question. Lets say Foye comes back and does well at pg (15/6 range) we resign Gomes and Bassy.

We draft hibbert and in the second a guy like Hardin is there, would we move on him? Get 2 centers? I kind of like the idea if Hardin was the BPA at the time.

I'd say yes because it isn't like there is a quality back up C on the roster already.Richard could be but as he never plays anymore who knows.

By drafting 2 centres hopefully Al could play exclusively at the 4 next year.

I think it would be an interesting fit. I would be happy

That works for me. It sounds like the 08 draft has a lot more center prospects than the 09 draft. It makes some sense to fill our gaping hole at center this year and take BPA (scoring wing, whatever) next year.
