Future Considerations!

I'm way to lazy to dig around in regards to the rules for Cash/Future considerations. Does anyone know the exact rules with regards to these in trades.

I'm just wondering if these can be structured in a way to deflect some of the player x is a 1 year rental we refuse to do this sort of trade. For example an UFA like Gerald Green going out to a team for a restricted player locked up for another 2 years. Lets just assume skill, potential, etc of players is even.

The only difference is that player A can go shop around, while player b has another year and is restricted. Hope that makes sense.

Can future considerations be tied to them aquiring a player and resigning to the team they were traded to. So lets just say if he doesnt resign the next year then MN has to give a 2nd round pick or cash, if he does resign its even steven. Thus mitigating the potential asset value lost in the long term value of the player.

I don't feel like digging but if including a pick or cash with a player on an expiring contract if they dont stay with the team they are traded to is possible then I think it mitigates some amount of risk to teams in trades w\ UFA\epirings\future picks etc.

Surely shrink knows!

I don't think I've ever seen sweeteners used conditionally based on the decision of the player .. only of the team, or perhaps the final record (like a pickswap or protections on a pick). Perhaps GM's are unwilling to give that kind of leverage to a player and his agent? I don't see that it couldn't be done though, if the NBA is fine with awarding picks and pickswaps for things like hiring an opposing team's coach.

I don't know of any examples like you describe, where a team gives up an asset based on the decision of a truly unrestricted free agent. Does anyone have a good example?

yea, I do not think conditionals are allowed in the nBA.
