Thinking outside the box at SF

Dont bash me, this is just an idea. I'm not even saying I agree with it, just throwing it out for discussion.

What about keeping Gomes long-term as our starting SF, and using Brewer as a trading chip to get a big or another high draft pick this year?

I think it depends on what the pick or player would be. I'm not necessarily against it, but I don't think there's a lot of interest in Brewer by other teams that would really lead to anything worthwhile.

Corey Brewer is athletic, defensive minded, and tall for his position. If his outside shot develops he'll be a huge asset. Probably never all-star but the type of role player any team can use.
Ryan Gomes still seems average to me. I'd rather keep Brewer and let Gomes walk or trade him or whatever.

I'd rather have Brewer.

Put some meat on his bones and he'd be a very good defender at the SF spot. He's already developing a good technique on his form, and from what i've seen lately it has been consistent and his FG% has gone up from his work ethic and Ass. GM Hoiberg.

I'm starting to dig on Gomes, I'd like to keep him and Brewer. I actually like the Gomes/Jefferson frontcourt combo lots more than Smith/Jefferson. They compliment eachother better. And Gomes' defense is coming along nicely.

Brewer's been playing a lot of 2 lately as well.

if there's a top5 pick available I'd say yes but I don't think it's that likely

Imagine that if we could draft rose/mayo/beasley AND hibbert/jordan/center prospect

foye
mccants
beasley
jefferson
hibbert

foye
mccants
beasley
jefferson
jordan

rose
foye/mccants
gomes
jefferson
hibbert

rose
foye/mccants
gomes
jefferson
jordan

looks really really really solid to me

I doubt getting a high lottery pick is a possibility. Deeney said it in another thread and I think it goes for most of our players, they have more value on these boards then on other teams.

After watching Brewer in the game against NJ, he was really hustling and brought a ton of energy in the 2nd half, trying to strip RJ of the ball and diving for balls flying out of bounds. We need to keep him i think.

yeah I'm really aware of the slim likelyhood in getting high lottery picks but I just wanted to point out that I'm not completely against it

oh and for the record: I love the way brewer plays and hustles! I would be quite sad if we would trade him

I like you thinking outside the box, and I don't think Corey Brewer is untradable. At this point though, he hasn't shown enough to have raised his position in the draft, and I think that if we dealt him, we'd be selling him low. With his huge upside, I don't mind him as our SF.

I really like the chemistry between Gomes and Jefferson. Even if Gomes doesn't have a great game, Jefferson seems to play better when he's out there.

I agree that Gomes would be the better fit "right now" to start at SF but Brewer will be better in the long-run and we prolly would have to overpay to keep Gomes

brewers ceiling is way to high to part with imo

At this point there's no reason not to keep both. I think the chances that Gomes is offered an overvalued contract are remote.

Brewer's ceiling is higher because he has not only a higher basketball IQ than Green, but overall as well. Green at this point is not a starting caliber SF in the NBA. If you're only going to be good at offense, you'd better be really good at it. Brewer already has above average D and his offense is improving. Green is slightly above average on offense.

Who mentioned Green?

Let's trade Brewer for Al Thornton...We could have the Al team!....
