Richard Jefferson?

Usually I'm the one who advocates staying away from the idea of the wolves adding salary and abandoning the rebuilding process so soon. However, the Nets demies and te wolves improvement got me thinking.
If we could get Jefferson without giving up our 2008 draft pick, Ratliff's contract, or Foye and Brewer, should we do it?
A trade offer could be:
Walker + Buckner + G. Green + McCants + rights to 2009 Boston Pick + rights Miami's future pick.
for
Jefferson + Wright
Wolves would have several roster options--
Foye
Brewer
RJ
Gomes
Big Al
then add our lotto pick next year- Rose/Beasley/Hib/etc. and we have a very exciting team.
thoughts?

I thought that same thing...I really like Richard Jefferson's game he seems like the smartest guy on that team (J. Kidd aside) and I think he looks very good...I'd rather give up Brewer than McCants for Jefferson though.

hmm.... i think most people would rather keep Brewer. But if we offered Brewer instead of McCants I think we could keep the Miami pick.

nah, then we'd have to put first initials on their jerseys and "A. Jefferson" looks dumb

I think you're underrating RJ's value by quite a bit.

what do you think is fair value then? I thought McCant's + two number ones was pretty close to what Phili got for Iverson.

I'm a big RJ fan and he's the only one of NJ's big 3 that I would be interested in. If we did it without trading Ratliff, Foye, or our 1st rounder, I'd be on board.
It pretty much would mean Al sees major minutes at C as you'd have to go Jefferson-Gomes-Jefferson 3 to 5. I'd be fine including McCants or Brewer, just not both. I think that deal would only prevent us from drafting Beasley this year.
Not sure if NJ would make that kind of move though.

I wouldn't do that. He makes too much money for too long. And he's soft.

his contract is reasonable. 36 players in the NBA make more money then he does this year.
Here's what's left of his contract, including this year.
$12,200,000 $13,200,000 $14,200,000 $15,200,000

Boston #1 has little value, it's likely to be late 20s. McCants doesn't hold the value around the league that he does on this board - and until he puts together a couple of months of consistency, he won't.

if we should do a trade which nets us jefferson I guess mccants will be traded because from our side it's better to have a defensive wing man instead of another offensive option. jefferson

I think you designed a fair trade and I like richard Jefferson, but I don't think we're close enough to contending to be dropping $12-$15 mil on a swingman. I'd rather see how Brewer develops, and I have high hopes that the MIA pick will eventually be a high one.

I'll pass, he was a guy I was interested when we were trying to build a contender this past offseason before deciding to destroy & rebuild. Not anymore. Id rather see how Brew develops and I still am not ready to give up on McCants or any amount of picks.
Although that does give me a fantastic idea for a NBA 2K team
C-Al Jefferson
PF-Al Harrington
SF-Richard Jefferson
SG-Jason Richardson
PG-Java Crittenton
I think Shrink just exploded.

I have not watched very many Nets games but this year he seems to have overtaken Carter as the number one option and it has not been good for the team.. I remember reading on the Nets board that he does not get the other players involved enough.
But of course for the right price I wouldn't be able to say no.

For sure we'd have to include Theo's expiring, Brewer, and the BOS pick.
I personally wouldn't mind going with Theo, Brewer, Green, BOS pick for RJ and Magloire.
